Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both visuals and identify several important comparisons, including the largest user group (44% full-time undergraduates), the high satisfaction with staff helpfulness (95%), and the absence of dissatisfaction with opening hours and staff. However, the overview is not fully precise: “full time graduate” misidentifies the largest group, which is full-time undergraduate, and the claim that wi-fi had the most dissatisfied users is inaccurate because journals were highest at 20%, compared with 19% for wi-fi. Some comparisons are also unclear, such as “just above the quarter” for figures that range from 5% to 40%. To strengthen the response, state the main patterns accurately in the overview and distinguish the satisfaction levels more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction and overview are followed by one paragraph on user categories and another on satisfaction. This makes the two visuals easy to locate, and linking expressions such as “In contrast,” “Meanwhile,” and “However” help signal comparisons. At times, though, the progression within the table paragraph becomes mechanical because many figures are listed in sequence without grouping them into clear patterns. The sentence beginning “Where as” is also an incomplete continuation, and “Compared to library timing and staff helpfulness” does not clearly state the comparison. Grouping the satisfaction results into high, moderate, and lower ratings, and using clearer sentence links, would make the progression more fluent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “considerable proportion,” “vast majority,” “modest proportion,” and “dissatisfaction.” These choices show an effort to describe proportions rather than repeat basic terms. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “a research on outcomes,” “membership by” students, and “the vast majority was provided for helpfulness.” Spelling errors, including “satified,” “liberary,” and “quater,” also reduce precision. Some expressions are not well matched to the data: “just under quarter” is used for 16%, while “exactly a quarter” is used for 20%. Prefer direct, accurate phrases such as “accounted for” and “the highest proportion of dissatisfied users.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while” and “which,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, some sentence structures are faulty or incomplete. For example, “The given pie chart and table illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Where as, just above the quater demonstrated by books…” lacks a clear subject and finite verb. There are also problems with articles and phrasing in “as library user” and “in compare to other members.” These errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to follow. Check agreement, build complete clauses, and use a clear subject–verb structure when introducing each comparison.
