Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main groups and several important figures accurately, including undergraduates at 44%, postgraduates at 25%, and the high satisfaction with staff helpfulness (95%) and opening hours (65%). You also note that no respondents were dissatisfied with those two services. This gives the response a relevant overview and covers both visuals. However, the overview is not fully clear: saying the largest portions are undergraduates and postgraduates does not distinguish the largest group from the second largest, and the satisfaction comparisons are not consistently explained. The figures for journals, Wi-Fi and books are presented as satisfaction levels without specifying that they refer to the “very satisfied” column. A clearer summary of the strongest and weakest satisfaction results, supported by precise category labels, would make the key features more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph giving smaller user groups and further satisfaction figures. This helps the reader see that both the chart and table are being discussed. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several comparisons are compressed into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, “The largest portions are very satisfied in term of helpfulness of staff and library opening hours” combines a general claim with two separate table categories without a clear comparison. Linking words such as “Similarly,” “In addition,” and “Whereas” are used, but the relationships they signal are not always precise. Organise the table information more systematically, and use clearer references to distinguish user categories from satisfaction ratings.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “proportion,” “satisfaction level,” and “smallest share,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. There is also some attempt to vary wording when describing the data. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the chart and table deliberate the information,” “largest portions,” and “in the light of library users.” “The term fairly satisfied level” is also unclear, and “acadamic” is misspelled. These issues make some descriptions harder to interpret and limit precision when comparing the figures. Aim for standard chart-reporting expressions such as “illustrate,” “accounted for,” and “the proportion who were very satisfied,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple statements and more complex links, including “Whereas” and “In addition,” and the main figures can usually be understood. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or awkwardly assembled. For example, “Overall, in the chart, the largest portion of library users of full-time undergraduate and full-time postgraduate” lacks a main verb, while “The smallest share of library users are…” has a subject–verb agreement problem. There are also errors in articles, plurals and prepositions, as in “in term of proportion” and “library user are very satisfied.” These errors sometimes obscure the relationships between the data, even though the general topic remains clear. Build complete sentences with an explicit subject and verb, and check agreement and article use when describing each category.
