Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response covers both visuals and gives a clear overview: undergraduates form the largest user group, academic staff the smallest, and satisfaction is strongest for staff helpfulness and opening hours. Most figures are reported accurately, including the user-group shares and the 95% very satisfied with staff. The comparison that journals have the highest dissatisfaction, followed by wi-fi, is also supported by the data. To make the account more fully developed, include the opening-hours figures (65% very satisfied and 35% fairly satisfied) and compare satisfaction across more categories, such as the 48% very satisfied with wi-fi versus 45% for journals. The overview is relevant, though “all the library users” could be framed more precisely as survey respondents.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the information easy to follow, and the sequence from the chart to the table is logical. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “However,” and “followed by” help signal relationships. To show more flexible cohesion, avoid repeating “library users” and “use the library” so often, and use clearer references when moving between the table’s categories. For example, “this category” in the final sentence could be replaced with “journal availability.” The satisfaction paragraph also lists figures more than it compares them; grouping the strongest and weakest results would create smoother progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary is sufficient to describe the visuals, with useful terms such as “percentage,” “availability,” “helpfulness,” and “satisfied.” However, the range is limited by repeated wording, especially “library users” and “use the library,” and several choices are inaccurate or awkward. “Academic stuff” is too informal and should be “academic staff”; “outcomes of a survey about the library users” is less natural than “results of a survey of library users.” There are also spelling errors in “satisified” and “avaliability,” and “wifi” would be better written as “Wi-Fi.” These errors do not prevent understanding, but more precise collocations and careful spelling would make the report more fluent and appropriately formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple statements and some more complex forms, including “while” and “However,” and most meanings remain clear. There are some errors in agreement and sentence construction. For example, “the academic stuff uses” has a subject–verb form that is grammatically possible but the intended plural group would more naturally take “use”; “some user are” should be “some users are”; and “which with 19%” is an incomplete construction. The sentence “All library users are either very or fairly satisfied…” is also too broad unless tied explicitly to the two categories being discussed. Aim for consistently accurate plural forms and complete clauses, and vary sentence patterns while keeping comparisons clear.
