Student answer (Band 6.5)

The provided bar chart illustrates the proportion of various types of users at the library of a university. Meanwhile, the tablular data shows the percentage of user satisfaction in three categories for the different aspects of library.

Overall, library was majorly used by full-time undergraduate students, and least proportion of usage by the academic staffs. Additionally, majority of people are very satisfied in different aspects of library. Specificaly, staff helpfulness has the highest proportion in Very satisfied category.

Starting with bar chart, full-time undergraduate users are holding the maximum proportion of 44%. Similarly, full-time postgraduate students are accounted for one-fourth proportion of library users, which is the second most covered area after full-time undergraduate. Additionally, Part-time postgraduate was recorded for 16%. And distance learning and academic staff have significantly more or less same amount of proportion of users, which is 8% and 7% respectively.

Focusing on detailed user satisfaction, majority number of people are most satisfied in helpfulness of staff area, where 95% are very satisfied with 5% are fairly satisfied and none of the users are not satisfied with it. Second most satisfied field is library opening hours, which has represented 65% and 35% of very satisfied and fairly saitsfied respectively. Moreover, in availibility of books, half proportion of users were very satisfied and majority of remaining are fairly satisfied with 40% and only one-tenth proportion of users are not satisfied. Lastly, Availibility of journals and a wi-fi have almost same number of user satisfactions of nearly half of them are very satisfied with nearly one-fifth proportion of users are not satisfied and remainings are fairly satisfied.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response covers both visuals and gives a clear overview: undergraduates form the largest user group, academic staff the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction ratings. The figures reported for the user categories and for opening hours, staff helpfulness, and books are accurate. You also capture the broad pattern for journals and Wi-Fi, although saying they have “almost same number of user satisfactions” is imprecise: their ratings differ, particularly for dissatisfaction (20% for journals versus 19% for Wi-Fi, while the very-satisfied figures are 45% and 48%). The overview’s claim that a majority are very satisfied across the different aspects is also too broad, since this is not true for journals or Wi-Fi. More precise comparisons would strengthen an otherwise well-supported summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response is arranged in a clear sequence: introduction, overview, user-category details, and then satisfaction results. Signposting such as “Overall,” “Starting with,” and “Focusing on” helps readers follow the shift between the two visuals, and the main information is grouped appropriately. This provides a coherent overall progression. However, some linking is mechanical, with repeated “Additionally” and “Moreover,” and the final sentence compresses several comparisons into one long, difficult-to-follow statement. The phrase “Second most satisfied field” also makes the comparison less precise because it does not clearly identify the rating being compared. To make cohesion more flexible, use fewer formulaic transitions and divide the final comparison into clearer, logically connected statements.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” “helpfulness,” and “availability,” and the meaning is generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably unnatural or inaccurate, which limits precision: “library was majorly used,” “maximum proportion,” “second most covered area,” and “same amount of proportion” do not express the data naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “tablular,” “Specificaly,” “saitsified,” and “availibility.” Repeated use of “proportion” and “satisfied” further narrows the range. Prefer standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “the largest share,” and “rated very satisfied,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response includes both simple and more complex forms, such as the relative clause in “where 95% are very satisfied” and the comparison introduced by “which is the second most covered area.” Most sentences communicate the intended information, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “full-time postgraduate students are accounted for” uses an unsuitable passive construction, while “with 5% are fairly satisfied” incorrectly joins two clauses. In “majority of people are most satisfied,” the article and sentence structure need attention, and “the remaining are fairly satisfied” has an unclear plural reference. There is also inconsistent tense use when describing the figures. Aim for direct constructions such as “Full-time postgraduates accounted for 25%” and check clause structure, articles, and agreement.
