Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart and table illustrates the response of a unviersity's library survery.

Overall, the full-time students had the lion's share in terms of library users, followed by part-time students with a smaller proportion, whereas, distant learners, and academic have the equal percentage of library users.

Students and academic staff satisfaction rate depends upon several categories. As majortiy of them are satisfied with the helpfluness of staff and library opening hours. Availability of books got moderate satisfaction rate, however availability of journals and WiFi reliability recorded the least satisfied responses.

Full-time undergrads and postgrads had the major share of library users at 44% and 25%, respectively. Following this, part time postgrads had a moderate share at 16%. Moreover, distant learners of all courses and academic staff had the minor share of 8% and 7%, respectively.

Helpfulness of staff got the highest satisfaction rate of 95% and 5% were fairly satisfied, similarly, the library operational hours which got 65% satisfied and 35% moderately satisfied. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You cover both visuals and provide a clear overview: full-time undergraduates are the largest user group, while staff helpfulness and opening hours receive the strongest satisfaction ratings. The figures you report are generally accurate, including the user-group proportions and the satisfaction breakdowns for books, journals and Wi-Fi. You also make useful comparisons, such as noting the similar results for journals and Wi-Fi. To make the overview more precise, avoid saying that distance learners and academic staff have equal shares: their figures are close, but are 8% and 7%. The phrase “least satisfied responses” is also too broad, since journals have the highest dissatisfaction at 20%, while Wi-Fi is at 19%. Overall, the main features are selected and supported, though a few generalisations could be sharper.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by details about user categories and then satisfaction results. This makes the two visuals easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Following this,” and “However” help signal relationships. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “As majority of them are satisfied…” is not smoothly attached to the preceding overview, and “Lastly” introduces books after journals and Wi-Fi without a particularly clear reason for that order. The long final sentence also packs several comparisons together, making the figures harder to process. Use clearer topic sentences and divide dense comparisons into shorter units; this would make progression more consistently controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing proportions and satisfaction, including “lion’s share,” “moderate,” “recorded,” and “mixed responses.” These choices help avoid excessive repetition, and the meaning is generally clear. However, some less common expressions are inaccurate or informal for this report: “lion’s share” is conversational, while “operational hours” and “happy” are not the most precise descriptions of the chart categories. There are also spelling errors such as “unviersity,” “survery,” “majortiy,” and “helpfluness,” which reduce accuracy. Prefer consistent chart language such as “proportion,” “very satisfied,” and “not satisfied,” and check spelling carefully. More precise collocations would make the vocabulary more controlled and appropriate to an academic summary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including comparisons and clauses introduced by “whereas” and “however.” The main information remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. The opening has subject–verb disagreement in “The pie chart and table illustrates,” and “As majortiy of them are satisfied” is an incomplete, awkwardly attached clause. In the final comparison, “with 45% and 48% were happy” combines incompatible structures; use a noun phrase such as “with 45% and 48% very satisfied.” Missing articles and inconsistent sentence boundaries also appear, for example in “50% of the users were satisfied 40% were somewhat satisfied.” Review agreement, clause construction, and punctuation, while retaining the range of sentence forms you are attempting.
