Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given bar chart illustrates the results of a library's suvery at a university. This bar chart shows the proportion of categories of library users. In general, we can see that information and types of user's satisfaction. This satisfaction is shows in table and the table provides information in the form of percentage.

In addittion, this pie chart shows five different proportions of library users. The full-time undergraduate and full-time postgraduate shows higher proportion of 44 percent and 25 percent respectively. While, part-time postgraudate, distance learning and academic staff illustrates comparetively less proportion of library users. However, the range of the rest of three categories are 16 percent, 8 percent and 7 percent.

Moreover, the table provides data on the satisfaction level of librar users. There are serveral categories mentioned here. These categories are library opening hours, helpfulness of staff, availability of books, availability of journals and reliability of wifi. In adittion, the columns that are mentioned here are very satisfied, fairly satisfied and not satisfied. The percentage is clearly mentioned here to show the satisfaction of the library users. Nevertheless, the percentage of very satisfied is higher than the other two. In contrast, the fairly satisfied shows less percentage than the first one and not satisfied shows very minimal percentage.

In conclusion, by selecting and reporting the main features of the results of survery. It is concluded that categories with full-time undergraduates and postgraduates are more satisfied than the rest of the categories of library users.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two main components and report the user-category figures accurately, including the largest groups (full-time undergraduates at 44% and full-time postgraduates at 25%). However, the task is only partly addressed because the satisfaction table is mostly described in general terms rather than summarised through its key comparisons. For example, you note that “very satisfied is higher” but do not report that staff helpfulness reaches 95%, while opening hours are 65%, or that journals have the highest dissatisfaction at 20%. The conclusion also incorrectly says the postgraduate and undergraduate groups are “more satisfied”: the chart gives user categories, not satisfaction by category. A clearer overview of the strongest and weakest satisfaction results, supported by selected figures, would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to the user categories, then the satisfaction table, and finally a conclusion. Paragraphing helps distinguish these parts. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited: the table paragraph lists its categories and columns before making only broad observations, rather than organising the results into meaningful comparisons. Linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Moreover,” “Nevertheless,” and “In contrast” are frequent, but some do not establish a clear contrast or add a logical step. The conclusion repeats the task wording and introduces an unsupported comparison. Grouping the table results—for example, high satisfaction for staff and opening hours versus lower ratings for journals and wi-fi—would create a clearer line of development.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “satisfaction level,” “availability,” and “reliability,” and the reader can generally understand the intended topic. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “suvery,” “addittion,” “postgraudate,” “librar users,” and “compertively.” Some phrases are also unnatural or vague, including “the range of the rest of three categories” and “very minimal percentage.” Repeated use of “shows” and “percentage” makes the report less precise. Use standard chart-reporting collocations such as “accounted for,” “the proportion of users,” and “the share who were dissatisfied,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. For example, “This satisfaction is shows in table” has an incorrect verb construction and is missing an article, while “the full-time undergraduate and full-time postgraduate shows” has subject–verb agreement problems. The sentence beginning “In conclusion, by selecting and reporting…” is a fragment, and “categories with full-time undergraduates and postgraduates are more satisfied” uses an unclear grammatical relationship between categories and people. Practise forming complete sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and use straightforward comparative structures, such as “Staff helpfulness received the highest satisfaction rating.”
