Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for the largest share (44%), while academic staff are the smallest (7%). You also give an overall comparison between user categories and satisfaction, and correctly note that staff helpfulness and opening hours have no dissatisfied responses. However, some key details are unclear or inaccurate: academic staff and distance learners are not tied for the minimum, since they represent 7% and 8%, and the gap between part-time and full-time postgraduates is nine percentage points, not simply “around nine percent” without specifying the comparison. The table summary is underdeveloped: books, journals and Wi-Fi have distinct satisfaction patterns, rather than “somewhat same” percentages. Report the strongest and weakest satisfaction results more precisely to make the overview and comparisons fuller.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of the pie chart and table. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and linking expressions such as “overall,” “on the other hand,” and “secondly” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, and the final paragraph combines several table categories without clearly distinguishing their results. The sentence beginning “in pie chart full time…” also repeats information already given in the overview. Use clearer topic sentences and group the table data into meaningful comparisons—for example, the two categories with no dissatisfaction, followed by books, journals and Wi-Fi—to make the organisation more coherent and the references easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “largest portion,” “satisfaction level,” and “dissatisfaction,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “proportion of data,” “lowest contribution in the library,” and “got zero percent dissatisfaction.” Spelling errors—including “udergraduate,” “satifaction,” and “reality” where you mean reliability—also make the writing less precise. Aim for standard chart language and accurate forms: describe groups as accounting for a share of users, and say that a category recorded no dissatisfaction. More precise vocabulary would help you distinguish satisfaction levels and report comparisons without relying on vague phrases such as “someup same.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including comparisons joined with “while” and “whereas.” The intended meaning is usually recoverable, but there are some recurring problems with sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms. For example, “in table shows” lacks a clear subject, while “full time undergraduate students shares” has a subject–verb agreement error. “Most of the users satisfied” needs a verb such as “were,” and “the difference … is around nine percent” would be clearer as a complete, accurately framed comparison. Several sentences are also joined into long strings with limited punctuation, which makes relationships between ideas harder to follow. Build complete clauses first, then combine them with accurate linking structures and check agreement and verb forms.
