Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the largest user group (full-time undergraduates, 44%) and the smallest (academic staff, 7%), and include several relevant satisfaction figures. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: saying opening-hours satisfaction “is rise” does not describe a trend in this static table, and the key contrast that staff helpfulness has the highest satisfaction (95% very satisfied) is not clearly presented as an overall feature. Some figures are also confused: the final sentence assigns 19% to journals, although it belongs to wi-fi, and the 20% not satisfied figure for journals is not clearly distinguished. The response is 143 words, below the required 150; the 11 words copied from the prompt are excluded from the count. Develop a clearer overview and report comparisons accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and details about the two visuals. However, progression is difficult to follow because ideas are joined in long, loosely connected sequences, especially the final sentence, which combines satisfaction figures for journals and wi-fi without clear labels. Connectors such as “while,” “however,” “next to,” “moreover” and “in conclusion” are sometimes used inaccurately or mechanically, so they do not reliably show how the information relates. Paragraphing and clearer separation of the user categories from satisfaction results would help. Use one focused overview, then group related figures in a logical order and make each comparison explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to identify the main categories and satisfaction levels, using terms such as “full-time undergraduate,” “fairly satisfied” and “reliability of wi-fi.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the report awkward or unclear. For example, “the second number of users” is not a natural way to describe the next-largest group, and “the table library user opening hours is rise” does not convey the intended comparison. “Helpless of staff” also changes the meaning of helpfulness. Spelling errors such as “libaray” and “Moreever” further reduce precision. Learn accurate chart-reporting phrases and check spelling, especially for labels taken directly from the visual.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts some longer sentences and comparisons, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors often make relationships between figures hard to understand. For example, “The pie chart and table illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “full time undergraduate is highest category user” lacks the articles and structure needed for a clear sentence. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable: the overview runs together after “university,” and the final sentence contains several figures without a clear grammatical structure. Build accurate simple sentences first, such as “Full-time undergraduates make up 44% of users,” then add comparisons with controlled clauses. Check agreement, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
