Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response identifies both the user-category chart and the satisfaction table, and it correctly notes that full-time undergraduates form the largest group (44%) and academic staff the smallest (7%). However, the overview is unclear and sometimes misrepresents the data: “the number of satisfaction had at maximum level” does not specify what is most satisfying, and “categories ... had not become advanced” is not a meaningful comparison. Several figures are omitted or inaccurate. For example, 25% refers to full-time postgraduate users, not the “minimum users,” and the book-satisfaction figures are given as 45%, 35% and 0%, rather than 50%, 40% and 10%. The response also overlooks the strongest result, staff helpfulness at 95% very satisfied. Select key comparisons and report them accurately in a clear overview.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation: the response introduces the chart and table, gives an overview, and then discusses user categories and satisfaction in separate paragraphs. This helps the reader recognise the two sources of information. However, progression is weak because the overview is difficult to interpret, and the final “To sum up” repeats a vague comparison rather than drawing together the main findings. Linking phrases such as “in addition” and “As well as” are used awkwardly or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Some sentences also begin with incomplete topic phrases, such as “The users satisfaction, the time of library opening...” Plan the report around a clear overview followed by grouped, comparable details, and use linking words only when their relationship is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “categories,” “satisfaction,” “availability,” and “approximately,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several repeated or inaccurate expressions make the meaning difficult to follow. “Library consumers” is less suitable than “library users,” while “had not become advanced” and “satisfaction more advanced” do not express a clear trend or comparison. “The academic staff had not survived” is also an inappropriate choice for describing a small user group. There are word-form and spelling problems, including “users satisfaction” and “availability f books.” Use precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “the largest proportion,” and “very satisfied,” and check collocations and spelling before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer structures, including “while the number of satisfaction...” and “compared with other users,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and errors frequently obscure the intended meaning. Examples include the incomplete construction “The users satisfaction, the time of library opening average satisfaction...” and the faulty comparison “The minimum users full time postgraduate was approximately 25%.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “at university” and “The libraries satisfaction more advanced.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, particularly in “To sum up, The...” Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences first, then add comparisons using accurate structures such as “X was higher than Y” or “X accounted for...”.
