Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover both visuals and report many figures accurately, including the largest user group (full-time undergraduates, 44%), the 25% postgraduate figure, and satisfaction results for all five services. However, the response mainly lists data rather than selecting and comparing the key features, and it lacks a clear overall summary. For example, it does not highlight that staff helpfulness received the strongest satisfaction rating (95% very satisfied), while journals had the highest dissatisfaction (20%). The phrase “due to lack of books” also suggests a cause that the table does not provide. To strengthen the report, add a concise overview of the main contrasts and describe the figures neutrally without inferring reasons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a generally understandable sequence: it first describes the user categories and then moves through the satisfaction table. This gives the reader a basic overall arrangement. However, the second paragraph becomes a long series of figures, and transitions such as “however,” “while,” and “on the other hand” are sometimes used mechanically or do not clearly signal the relationship between points. The opening also does not establish a clear overview before the details. Use separate, focused paragraphs for the chart and table, and group related results—for instance, compare the high satisfaction with staff and opening hours against the lower ratings for journals and wi-fi. Clearer sentence boundaries and referencing would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “very satisfied,” “fairly satisfied,” “availability,” and “reliability,” so the main subject is usually clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning awkward: “spend a huge time in library,” “staff are very helpfulness,” and “avalability” are examples. Repetition of “users,” “satisfied,” and “library” also makes the account less precise. Choose neutral reporting language such as “accounted for,” “rated,” and “dissatisfied,” and use accurate collocations—for example, “the availability of books” and “the helpfulness of staff.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates the main figures, but grammatical control is uneven, and many sentences contain errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, or sentence construction. Examples include “The given pie chart and table illustrates,” “full time undergraduate student spend,” and “65% individual very satisfied,” where the subject and verb or the sentence structure are incomplete or mismatched. Some longer sequences joined with “while” or “however” are also difficult to punctuate and follow. Most statements rely on simple patterns, with limited accurate use of more varied structures. Practise complete reporting sentences such as “Full-time undergraduates accounted for 44% of users” and “No respondents were dissatisfied with the opening hours,” then check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
