Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both visuals and report the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates make up 44%, while academic staff account for 7%. You also include the satisfaction figures for all five services, so the response addresses the task and gives relevant detail. The overview identifies the largest and smallest user categories, but its comment that the table “showed 0% of library opening hours and helpfulness of staff” is inaccurate: zero applies only to the “not satisfied” column for those two services. The overview would be stronger if it highlighted the broad pattern that satisfaction was generally high, especially for staff helpfulness, while dissatisfaction was greatest for journals. Some comparisons, such as the relative ranking of postgraduate groups, are mentioned but not fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph covering satisfaction. This makes the information easy to locate, and sequencing expressions such as “At the outset,” “Following this” and “Finally” help guide the reader. However, several transitions feel mechanical, and “Whereas” and “However” do not clearly express the relationships intended in the overview. The final paragraph lists each service in turn, with limited grouping or comparison between them. To improve progression, organise the satisfaction data around contrasts—for example, staff helpfulness and opening hours versus books, journals and wi-fi—and use linking phrases that make those comparisons explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “availability,” “very satisfied” and “reliability,” and the reader can generally understand the categories and figures. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “tabel,” “illustartes,” “catagories,” “useres” and “renked.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “the highest categories … were experienced at” and “peak the numbers” do not express the data clearly. Use standard chart-reporting collocations such as “accounted for the largest share” and “ranked second.” Greater accuracy with these common expressions, alongside careful proofreading, would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple statements and longer sentences, and most figures remain understandable. Some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “the full-time postgraduate were second” uses a plural verb with a singular category, while “availability of books were 50%” has a similar agreement problem. The opening sentence also lacks a well-formed structure, and punctuation is sometimes misplaced, as in “8%,while,” and “Whereas” beginning a fragment-like sentence. The sentence about staff satisfaction is difficult to parse because the figures and categories are joined without a clear grammatical structure. Practise building complete comparison sentences, checking subject–verb agreement, and using commas and conjunctions to connect clauses accurately.
