Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, while academic staff are the smallest group at 7%. You also highlight staff helpfulness as the strongest satisfaction result, accurately noting 95%, and mention opening hours at 65%. However, some details are inaccurate or too general: part-time postgraduates are 16%, not 25%, and the final two categories are 16% and 8% (part-time postgraduates and distance learners), rather than 7% and 8%. The overview could also compare satisfaction more fully: no one was dissatisfied with staff helpfulness or opening hours, whereas journals had the highest dissatisfaction at 20%. The final table summary is underdeveloped and does not clearly distinguish the three satisfaction levels.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to separate descriptions of the chart and table. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is weakened by the abrupt, incomplete final paragraph, which ends without a full stop and gives only a broad summary of the last three rows. Some linking is awkward or mechanical, particularly “On the other hand” and “whereas,” which do not connect the ideas smoothly in their current positions. The overview also combines several points in one sentence, making the relationship between user categories and satisfaction less clear. Use complete paragraphs, group related figures, and connect comparisons explicitly—for example, contrast the 95% satisfaction for staff helpfulness with the lower figures for journals and wi-fi.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary such as “categories,” “satisfaction rate,” “helpfulness,” and “fully satisfied,” so the topic is generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise: “users come from” is better expressed as “users were,” “remains on third number” is not idiomatic, and “very less” should be “the fewest” or “much lower.” “Highly satisfied” and “fully satisfied” are also used where the table’s category is “very satisfied,” so consistent wording would improve precision. There is a spelling error in “repectively,” and “in figure” is an awkward reference. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and avoid repeating “users” when “respondents” or “library users” would be clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including “While most satisfied feature of library is helpfulness of staff” and “According to this pie chart…,” but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “majority of Full-time undergraduates uses” has an article and subject–verb agreement problem; “which show that how much users come” uses an incorrect clause structure; and “Users from Part-time postgraduates remains” has faulty agreement. The overview’s “While” clause is also left without a complete main clause. In the final paragraph, “whereas” begins a new sentence with a lower-case letter, and the closing sentence lacks punctuation. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, but checking agreement, clause completeness, and sentence boundaries would make the report more controlled.
