Student answer (Band 5.0)

The pie chart demonstrates the different percentages of university library usage. Likely show that how much percent peoples of university uses it. Pie chart consist of five different categories. Nearly half like 44% of library used by the full-time undergraduate students. While only 7% library is used by academic staff. From my perspective its due to the newly students like undergraduate students taking more intrest in study. Thats why they used more univesity library as compared to other.

While when we talk about the academic staff they donot use library too much because they have other office work that why they could not use library too much. The second largest number is 25% that is used by full time postgraduate students. While it decrase gradully to 16% which is used by part-time postgraduate. While least one is 8% that is used by those students that covering or learning different courses at university.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify several key figures accurately: full-time undergraduates are the largest group at 44%, academic staff the smallest at 7%, and full-time and part-time postgraduates account for 25% and 16%. However, the response only describes the pie chart and omits the satisfaction table entirely, so it does not summarise all the information in the task. There is also no clear overview of the main satisfaction patterns. The explanations about undergraduates being more interested in study and staff having office work are speculative and are not supported by the visual data. To improve, cover both visuals, highlight the strongest contrasts, and report only what the figures show.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it begins with the user categories and then moves through the figures from the largest group towards the smaller ones. Linking expressions such as “While” and “The second largest number” help signal comparisons. However, the progression is weakened by repeated sentence openings with “While,” and the ideas about why groups use the library interrupt the data summary. The opening also repeats the chart’s general subject rather than giving a clear overview. Use a more purposeful structure: introduce the main pattern, group the figures into meaningful comparisons, and use a separate paragraph for the satisfaction results. This would make the relationships between points clearer and reduce repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant terms, including “percentages,” “categories,” “full-time undergraduate students,” and “part-time postgraduate,” so the reader can generally identify the groups being compared. However, the vocabulary is limited and several choices are inaccurate or informal for a chart summary. Phrases such as “library is used by” and “the least one” are awkward, while “newly students” and “taking more intrest in study” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “univesity,” “decrase,” and “gradully” also reduce precision. Aim for concise reporting language such as “accounted for,” “represented,” and “the smallest proportion,” and avoid unsupported explanations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentence forms, for example, “While only 7% library is used by academic staff,” but these attempts are often incomplete or inaccurately formed. The opening “Likely show that how much percent peoples of university uses it” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “Pie chart consist of five different categories” has subject–verb agreement and article problems. Other examples include “they donot use library” and “it decrase gradully,” where verb forms and sentence construction are not controlled. Most sentences rely on simple patterns, and errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise complete sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and use a small range of comparison structures reliably.
