Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the largest user group accurately (full-time undergraduates, 44%) and report the main proportions for the other categories, while also noting that staff helpfulness received the strongest satisfaction result. However, the overview is vague: “several variation” does not clearly summarise the key pattern across the satisfaction table. Some comparisons are also inaccurate or unsupported. Opening hours and book availability are not both “the second best” categories, and wi-fi and journals cannot simply be called the “least attractive” without explaining their mixed ratings. Include the 8% distance-learning figure and compare the lower satisfaction results more precisely—for example, journals had the highest dissatisfaction at 20%, while opening hours had none. This would make the main features clearer and more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for user categories and satisfaction results. Sequencing within the user-category paragraph is generally clear, moving from the largest group to the smallest, and transitions such as “To begin with” and “Additionally” help signal shifts. However, the overview does not provide a clear organising summary, and the final paragraph moves through satisfaction categories without a consistent comparison or clear ranking. “Moreover” and “Finally” are used, but the relationship between some points remains unclear. For example, “ranked as the second best category” groups opening hours and books together despite their different results. A more systematic order—highest satisfaction, then mixed or lower results—would improve progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “majority,” “minority groups,” “participants,” and “satisfaction rate,” so the topic is generally communicated. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “it is evident” and “ranked.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise: “several variation had been witnessed” is unnatural, “amenities” is not the clearest term for the listed services, and “least attractive part” does not accurately describe satisfaction ratings. Spelling errors such as “thier” and “Futhermore” also reduce control. Prefer precise reporting language such as “received the lowest satisfaction ratings” and “accounted for,” and check spelling and collocations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a complex opening sentence and sentences with sequencing clauses, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, some errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “The given charts illustrates” should use a plural verb, while “several variation had been witnessed” has a number mismatch and an awkward passive construction. In “survey comprised a majority,” an article is needed, and “the survey results shows” has subject–verb disagreement. The sentence beginning “Moreover, the minority groups contained…” also ends with a comma before “Finally,” creating a punctuation problem. Use simpler, controlled structures where needed, and check each subject against its verb and each sentence for complete, correctly punctuated clauses.
