Student answer (Band 6.5)

The provided pie chart and the table depict the statistics of a survey which shows the types of readers at a university and also their feedback ratio.

Overall, it is evident that students who are involved in the full-time bachelor's course are the highest number of users in this category, whereas the least number of users are from academic staff. In addition to this, the most satisfied facility is the helpful nature of staff members in the university.

Initially, only 7% of teachers are using the library, and 8% of users are from those who are taking the online classes. Moreover, part-time seniors are involved in 16%, whereas 25% of students are postgraduate, those who are getting the regular classes. Furthermore, 44% of juniors are those who are studying in undergraduate programmes regularly.

Secondly, the very satisfied service is the members who help their students at a university, and also library schedules are another most satisfying factor for their students and readers. The availability of books is fairly balanced for them, and their journals also get the same level of feedback. Last but not least, the dependence on wifi is another concern for a few members.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for the largest share (44%), while academic staff are the smallest (7%). You also give an overview of satisfaction, noting staff helpfulness and opening hours as strong areas. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: “part-time seniors” and “juniors” do not match the categories shown, and the 25% figure is full-time postgraduate users, not simply students receiving regular classes. The table is reported less fully: books and journals are described as “fairly balanced,” and Wi-Fi as a concern, without the key satisfaction contrasts. Include the figures for these services and clarify that Wi-Fi has a notable dissatisfied share.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for user categories and satisfaction. Sequencing words such as “Initially,” “Moreover,” and “Secondly” help the reader follow the shift between the visuals. This coherent arrangement supports the main message. However, some links are mechanical, and the final paragraph moves through several services without a clear comparison or progression. Phrases such as “the availability of books is fairly balanced” and “their journals also get the same level of feedback” do not specify what is being compared, so the references are difficult to follow. Grouping the satisfaction results by strongest, mixed, and weakest responses would make the progression more precise and cohesive.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “survey,” “postgraduate,” “undergraduate programmes,” “availability,” and “satisfied.” These choices make the general topic clear, and “feedback ratio” shows an attempt to vary wording. Some less suitable choices reduce precision: “readers” and “teachers” are not the chart’s categories, while “part-time seniors” and “juniors” mislabel postgraduate and undergraduate groups. “Feedback ratio” is also less natural than “satisfaction levels.” In the table discussion, “fairly balanced” and “dependence on wifi” do not accurately express the response categories. Use the exact category labels and standard collocations such as “users were satisfied with” or “the proportion who were dissatisfied” to improve accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including the overview clause beginning “whereas” and the sentence starting “In addition to this.” Most sentences remain understandable, and punctuation generally separates the main ideas. Some grammatical issues persist, particularly in longer or awkwardly constructed sentences. For example, “the highest number of users in this category” is an unclear construction, and “25% of students are postgraduate, those who are getting the regular classes” does not connect its clauses smoothly. The phrase “the very satisfied service is the members who help” also creates a mismatch between the service and the people providing it. Aim for direct structures such as “Staff helpfulness received the highest satisfaction rating,” and check clause connections and agreement when expanding sentences.
