Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important features, including the largest user group, the smallest group, and high satisfaction with staff helpfulness. The figures for full-time undergraduates (44%), full-time postgraduates (25%), distance learners (8%), and academic staff (7%) are reported accurately, and you note that journals attract the greatest dissatisfaction. However, the overview is incomplete and partly unclear: “full time graduates” incorrectly describes the 44% group, which is full-time undergraduates, and the table’s results are only selectively covered. For example, the 10% dissatisfaction with books and 19% with wi-fi are omitted, and the claim about journals would be clearer with its 20% figure. A more complete overview comparing the strongest and weakest satisfaction results, supported by key figures, would make the response more fully address the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for user categories and satisfaction. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several linking expressions are inaccurate or make relationships hard to follow. “While” at the start of the overview is not properly connected to the preceding idea, while “Subsequently” does not express a time sequence in this chart. In the final paragraph, “followed by library opening hours” suggests a ranking that is not clearly explained. Use simpler, more precise links such as “By comparison” and group related figures in a clear order. Clearer sentence boundaries and references would also help the reader follow the comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “category,” “satisfaction,” “helpfulness,” and “accounts for,” and you attempt to describe proportions and comparisons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to interpret. “Full time graduates” does not accurately name the largest group, and phrases such as “covers 25% of category” and “total ration” are not natural ways to report shares. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “libray,” “disatnce,” and “avability.” Aim for precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “represented,” and “the proportion of users,” and proofread carefully for spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a comparison with “While” and a clause beginning “that accounts for.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation frequently interrupt the flow. For example, “The pie chart and table depicts” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Overall, full time graduates are the largest category of libray users. While, academic staff accounts…” leaves an incomplete clause and misuses punctuation. The long sentence beginning “To commences with” also lacks clear grammatical connections between its figures. Practise writing complete sentences with one clear comparison at a time, checking agreement and articles, and use commas and full stops to separate ideas.
