Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, while distance learners make up 8%. You also report the strong result for staff helpfulness and note that journal availability has the highest dissatisfaction, at 20%. These are relevant features and your overview gives the reader a useful general picture. However, the satisfaction data are covered selectively: books and wi-fi are omitted, and the comparison between the satisfaction categories is not developed beyond a few figures. Some wording also makes the user-category figures unclear, such as saying students “are use library.” To strengthen the response, summarise the main patterns across all five satisfaction measures and make the overview more precise about the strongest and weakest results.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the information easy to follow, and signposts such as “Overall,” “In terms of” and “Furthermore” help indicate the stages of the summary. Cohesion is sometimes mechanical, however, and a few links are unclear. For example, “followed by 7% of academic staff and 16%” does not clearly show which group the 16% refers to, while “left ones” is an imprecise reference to the remaining respondents. The final paragraph also moves between opening hours, staff and journals without a fuller comparison. Use clearer references and group related satisfaction results to create smoother progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “satisfaction,” “availability” and “comparatively,” and the reader can generally understand the comparisons you intend. However, several word choices, collocations and spelling errors reduce precision: “versity,” “potions,” “helpfullness,” “hold the big satisfaction” and “highly satisfied by 95%” are not natural or accurate expressions in this context. “Satisfaction about” is also less idiomatic than “satisfaction with.” These errors do not prevent the main message from being understood, but they limit the range and control of your vocabulary. Aim for standard chart-reporting phrases such as “accounted for,” “the highest proportion” and “were very satisfied,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and a clause introduced by “whereas.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “full-time undergraduate students are the largest potions” needs a plural noun and a more suitable sentence structure, while “44% students … are use library” has problems with articles and verb form. In “helpfulness of staff is hold,” the verb construction is also incorrect. There are some accurate clauses, such as “20% of users are not satisfied,” but control is not consistent across the response. Practise accurate subject–verb patterns and past or present forms, and proofread each sentence for articles and verb structure.
