Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both visuals and identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, while academic staff are the smallest group at 7%. You also report most satisfaction figures correctly, including the 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and the 20% not satisfied with journals. However, the overview is unclear in places, and one figure is misreported: academic staff make up 7%, not 8%; 8% refers to distance learners. The claim that journals had the “less satisfaction” is also imprecise, since wi-fi has a higher dissatisfied share (19%) than journals (20% is indeed the highest, but the comparison should specify dissatisfaction). Develop the overview by clearly contrasting the strongest and weakest satisfaction results, and check each figure against the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and one on satisfaction. This helps the reader follow the two visuals, and sequencing phrases such as “Followed by” and “Lastly” indicate order. However, progression within sentences is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the overview (“Whereas l helpfulness of staff carry to lead percentage…”). Several transitions are mechanical or incomplete, and the final paragraph strings together figures without consistently clarifying which satisfaction category each number represents. Use complete topic sentences and group related comparisons—for example, staff and opening hours as the strongest results, then books, journals and wi-fi—while using linking words only where they express a clear relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt task-appropriate terms such as “proportion,” “significant,” “availability,” and “reliability,” and you use relevant labels from the visuals. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are frequent enough to make some statements difficult to interpret. Examples include “highest proportation,” “much satisfied,” “read of books,” and “Helpful of staff dominstrate sustaintial percentage.” Some expressions also repeat “library users” without adding precision. Build a reliable set of chart-description phrases, such as “accounted for,” “the largest share,” and “were very satisfied,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting. Prefer precise descriptions over ambitious vocabulary that does not fit the sentence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You make some attempts to combine information, including the contrast introduced by “while” and the sentence beginning “however.” Nevertheless, sentence control is inconsistent, and several clauses are incomplete or lack a clear grammatical relationship. For example, “Followed by full-time postgraduate stood at 25%” is a fragment, while “availability of books had satisfied in 50%” does not form a clear subject–verb construction. There are also errors with articles, agreement, and punctuation, such as the run-on sequence near the end. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then use simple comparative structures accurately: “The figure for X was…, compared with…” A few well-controlled complex sentences would improve clarity.
