Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main user groups and correctly highlight full-time undergraduates as the largest category (44%), followed by full-time postgraduates (25%) and part-time postgraduates (16%). You also report several satisfaction figures accurately, including the 95% very satisfied with staff and the 20% not satisfied with journals. However, the overview is limited: there is no clear summary comparing the strongest and weakest satisfaction results, and the figures for academic staff and distance learners (7% and 8%) are not stated. Some descriptions are imprecise: “more than 65%” were not satisfied with opening hours; exactly 65% were very satisfied and 35% fairly satisfied. The final wi-fi comparison is left unfinished. Select the key contrasts and report them precisely to develop the summary more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response follows a generally sensible order, moving from the user categories to satisfaction results, and the reader can usually follow the shift between the chart and table. Phrases such as “the highest number” and “up next” help signal comparisons. However, the response is presented as one continuous block rather than clearly separated paragraphs, and the opening list of user groups is difficult to process. Some links are mechanical or unclear, such as “staff was helpful though,” while several table details run together without clear sentence boundaries. The ending also stops mid-thought after “19% were,” disrupting progression. Use distinct paragraphs for the two visuals, group related satisfaction results, and ensure each comparison is completed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “contribution,” “availability,” and “satisfied,” which allows you to describe both visuals. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or informal, such as “visitors” for library users, “population” for the proportions of users, and “wrost” to describe wi-fi reliability. Spelling errors are frequent and sometimes make reading difficult: “belaw,” “satistfied,” “modrately,” and “availibily” are examples. Repetition of “people” and “satisfied” also limits precision. Build a reliable set of terms for proportions and satisfaction levels, and check spelling carefully; use neutral expressions such as “accounted for” and “the least positively rated.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, for example, “the highest number of people who use library facilities are full time undergraduate with 44%.” This shows an effort to communicate relationships between figures, but control is inconsistent. Errors in articles, agreement, and sentence construction occur in examples such as “the table describe,” “the highest number … are,” and “half of the people were satisfied … less than half were moderately satisfied,” where clauses need clearer punctuation or linking. The opening sentence also has an awkward embedded clause (“the table describe that how much…”), and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and use shorter, complete sentences before adding more complex comparisons.
