Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify two relevant headline features: full-time undergraduates form the largest user group (44%), while academic staff are the smallest (7%); you also mention satisfaction with opening hours and journals. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it gives no meaningful account of the other user categories or most satisfaction results, and the overview does not clearly compare the main patterns. The statement that journals are in a “low position” is vague, and the table shows that helpfulness of staff has the highest very-satisfied figure (95%), an important feature omitted. The response is 60 words, so it does not meet the 150-word minimum; 8 words copied from the prompt were excluded from that count. Add a fuller overview and selected supporting figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence is followed by a paragraph beginning “Overall,” which signals an overview. However, the ideas within the second paragraph are crowded into one long sentence, and the links between user categories and satisfaction ratings are unclear. The repeated use of “and” and the connector “however” does not establish clear relationships between the points. As a result, the reader has difficulty following the comparison from the largest and smallest user groups to satisfaction levels. Use separate sentences or paragraphs for the two visuals, and group related figures together so the progression is easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “survey,” “proportion,” “full-time undergraduate,” “academic staff,” and “very satisfied.” These terms show an attempt to describe both the user categories and satisfaction data. However, the range is limited, and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “third lebel education,” “library utilizers,” and “low position.” The phrase “the library which users like” also does not clearly express the category being described. These word-choice and collocation problems make parts of the message difficult to interpret. Build a small set of precise chart-description phrases, such as “accounted for,” “the smallest share,” and “the lowest satisfaction rating,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt a complex overview sentence using “while” and “however,” but the sentence is not controlled well enough to make the comparisons clear. For example, “full-time undergraduate 44%, and it's highest proportion” lacks a clear grammatical link between the category and its figure, while “the academic staff 7% number and it's lowest position” has problems with sentence structure and agreement. The opening sentence also lacks an article before “third” and does not form a natural complete description. The response shows little variety beyond basic clauses, and errors frequently interrupt the reader’s understanding. Practise writing short, complete comparison sentences first, then combine them with accurate linking structures.
