Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies several user groups and includes some figures, but it does not adequately summarise both visuals. Most importantly, it confuses the user-category percentages with satisfaction: “full-time graduates with 44% satisfaction level” should refer to full-time undergraduates making up 44% of users. The overview also incorrectly describes academic staff as having a low “level of satisfaction”; the chart gives their share of users, not their satisfaction. The table’s key comparisons—such as 95% being very satisfied with staff helpfulness and 20% not satisfied with journal availability—are largely omitted. The response is also below the required 150 words. To improve, distinguish the two datasets and report their most notable contrasts accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic sequence, with an opening, an overview, and paragraphs introduced by “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “Lastly.” This gives the reader some sense of order, and the user categories are presented one after another. However, the progression is mostly a list rather than a clear comparison, and the satisfaction table is not organised as a separate part of the summary. “In conclusion” repeats general comments instead of drawing together the main findings. Some links are also unclear, particularly “Although fully satisfied…” because it is not connected grammatically to the preceding sentence. Group the response by chart and table, use comparisons to guide the order, and ensure each linking phrase accurately expresses the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “users,” “library opening hours,” “helpfulness of staff,” and “services,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the data difficult to interpret. “Satisfaction level” is repeatedly used for percentages that represent user categories, while “full-time graduates” does not accurately name the group shown. Phrases such as “at high level user” and “past-time postgraduates” are also unclear, and “catagories” is misspelled. Aim for precise chart language, distinguishing “accounted for” or “made up” from “were satisfied,” and check spelling and natural phrasing before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writing attempts a few different sentence forms, including the contrast beginning “Although” and the longer sentence about distance learning, but control is inconsistent. Several sentences lack a complete or well-formed structure: “Full time undergraduates at high level user of library” has no finite verb, and “Although fully satisfied…” is a dependent clause without a main clause. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “people uses library” and “The full-time postgraduates with 25% of satisfaction level of users.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise complete subject–verb sentences and use simple, accurate comparisons before adding more complex clauses.
