Student answer (Band 6.0)
The diagram illustrates the statistics of types of library users at university and their satisfaction percentage.
Overall, the pie chart demonstrates the highest portion occupied by undergrad students and the least part consisting of academic staff.
In depth, we aknowledged that 44% section of chart consists of undergrad students and almost half of it 25% contains full-time postgraduates. whereas, even less 16% are part-time graduates and 8% and 7% consist distance learning and academic staff.
Now focusing on satisfaction levels, 65% very satisfied and 35% fairly satisfied with library opening hours, where 95% and 5% very and fairly satisfied by helping staff. 50% very satisfied and the reduction of about 10% fairly satisfied by book availability and 10% not satisfied. Same for availibilty of journals 45% and 35% levels of satisfaction with 20% not satisfied. And lastly, 48% very satisfied by wifi signals and only 33% fairly satisfies with 19% not satisfied,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both the user categories and satisfaction table, and your overview correctly identifies full-time undergraduates as the largest group and academic staff as the smallest. Most figures are reported accurately, including the satisfaction results for opening hours and staff helpfulness. However, the overview is limited to the user categories; it should also highlight the broad satisfaction pattern, such as the particularly strong rating for staff helpfulness and the greater dissatisfaction with journals and wi-fi. Some comparisons are unclear: “almost half of it 25%” does not explain that full-time postgraduates are the second-largest group, and “the reduction of about 10% fairly satisfied” misstates the books figure, which is 40% fairly satisfied. A clearer selection and explanation of key contrasts would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable sequence: an introduction, an overview of user categories, details about those categories, and then a shift to satisfaction. Phrases such as “Overall” and “Now focusing on satisfaction levels” help signal this progression. However, the paragraphing and links between points are limited, and the final section reads as a long chain of figures joined mainly by “and” and “where.” This makes comparisons harder to follow, particularly across books, journals, and wi-fi. The phrase “Same for availability of journals” also leaves the relationship to the previous item vague. Grouping the satisfaction results into a separate paragraph and using clearer comparisons—such as contrasting staff ratings with journal ratings—would improve the flow and make cohesion less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “portion,” “satisfaction levels,” “availability,” and “not satisfied,” so the reader can understand the main subject. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing charts: “the highest portion occupied by” and “the least part consisting of” are awkward, while “reduction” does not describe the 40% fairly satisfied figure. There are also spelling errors in “aknowledged” and “availibilty,” and “wifi signals” is less precise than the table’s measure of wi-fi reliability. The range is adequate to communicate the data, but more accurate collocations and consistent terminology would make the report clearer and more formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple statements and more extended structures, and the main figures are generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, especially in sentence construction and punctuation. For example, “65% very satisfied and 35% fairly satisfied with library opening hours” is a fragment without a clear subject and verb; “where 95% and 5% very and fairly satisfied by helping staff” has the same problem and an unclear structure. The sentence beginning “In depth” also runs into a lower-case “whereas” after a full stop, and the final sentence ends with a comma rather than a full stop. Use complete clauses such as “65% of users were very satisfied, while 35% were fairly satisfied,” and check sentence boundaries and verb forms.
