Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both visuals and identify relevant headline features: undergraduates form the largest user group, academic staff the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction ratings. Most figures are reported accurately. However, the overview is unclear in places, especially “the least number of the journals are not satisfied,” which does not accurately summarise the table: the lowest dissatisfaction is 0% for opening hours and staff helpfulness, while journals have the highest dissatisfaction at 20%. Some category descriptions, such as “seniors” and “irregular students,” are not supported by the chart labels. To strengthen the response, use the exact user categories and make the main comparisons in the overview precise; the satisfaction data are otherwise covered, though not all comparisons are clearly explained.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph on satisfaction. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the two visuals. However, progression within the overview is weakened by the unclear phrase about “the least number of the journals,” and the repeated openings “The above pie chart demonstrates” and “The below table depicts” make the organisation feel somewhat mechanical. The final paragraph lists each satisfaction category in sequence, with limited grouping or comparison between them. Use clearer links to distinguish the two main findings, and group related results—for example, the strongest ratings for staff and opening hours versus the more mixed ratings for books, journals, and wi-fi.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “proportion,” “reliability,” “gratified,” and “displeased,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing survey results. “The outcomes of research” misrepresents what the visuals show, while “successful client,” “middle,” and “normal satisfied” do not clearly express satisfaction levels. The changing labels “reading room,” “depository,” and “book collection center” also replace the chart’s actual categories and reduce precision. Aim for a smaller, more reliable set of task-specific terms such as “users,” “share,” “satisfied,” and “dissatisfied.” This would make the description clearer and more natural without requiring elaborate synonyms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and some longer structures, and the main figures are usually understandable. However, errors in sentence construction and agreement recur. For example, “The pie chart and below table chart illustrates” has a compound subject that requires a plural verb, and “the largest proportion of users that 44% library has been used by” is not a complete, well-formed comparison. Several sentences also omit articles or use awkward grammatical patterns, as in “use library” and “35% are reasonable satisfied.” These issues sometimes make the relationships between figures and categories difficult to follow. Practise straightforward comparative sentence frames, such as “Undergraduates accounted for 44% of users” and “65% were very satisfied,” then vary them with accurate clauses.
