Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main user groups and correctly report the largest share (full-time undergraduates, 44%), the next largest (full-time postgraduates, 25%), and the small shares for academic staff and distance learners. You also include some satisfaction figures. However, the response only partially covers the task: it omits the 16% part-time postgraduate group and misreports book satisfaction, saying 40% were not satisfied when the table shows 40% fairly satisfied and 10% not satisfied. The overview is too general to capture the main contrasts across all five services. The response is also 146 words, below the required 150; the 10 words copied from the prompt were excluded from this count. Select the key comparisons accurately and summarise both visuals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: it introduces the chart, gives an overview, discusses satisfaction results, and ends with a conclusion. This helps the reader recognise the broad topic. However, progression is limited because the user-category figures and satisfaction data are not clearly organised as two distinct sets of information. Linking phrases such as “On the other side” and “Alonge with this” do not express the relationships precisely, while “To conclude” repeats the overview rather than drawing together the main comparisons. Some sentences also run several ideas together, making the sequence harder to follow. Group the user categories in one paragraph and the satisfaction results in another, using clear comparisons and accurate references to each service.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “fairly satisfied,” “opening hours,” and “availability,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “maximum value was full-time undergraduate students,” “satisfied from opening hours,” and “books availability.” “The information of library users” is also vague and repetitive. Spelling errors, including “Additionlly,” “Alonge,” and “studends,” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the report. Use precise terms such as “accounted for,” “were satisfied with,” and “availability of books,” and check spelling carefully. Vary the language used to compare proportions and satisfaction levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response communicates its general subject, but grammatical control is inconsistent and the sentence patterns are mostly simple, with attempts at longer structures often faulty. For example, “The maximum value was full-time undergraduate students it is 44%” joins clauses without suitable punctuation or a linking structure. In “the minimum value was academic staff and distance learning … it was almost similar,” the sentence structure and reference are unclear. There are also agreement and article problems in “helpfulness of staff were 95%” and “most of the studends satisfied from library's hours.” Full stops and commas are often missing, and the final sentence contains a repeated “the.” Build accurate sentences around the data—for example, “Full-time undergraduates made up the largest group, at 44%”—and check agreement, sentence boundaries, and prepositions.
