Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main user group and several important satisfaction patterns, including the high ratings for staff helpfulness and opening hours and the weaker results for journals and Wi-Fi. Most user-category figures are reported accurately. However, there is a significant data error: 95% refers to very satisfied users rating staff helpfulness, not opening hours; the opening-hours figure is 65%. The claim that academic staff are few because they are “very limited in number” is an unsupported explanation, and “Full-time graduates” is not the chart’s category. The overview is relevant, but the satisfaction comparisons are not fully developed: for example, journals and Wi-Fi are called “at the bottom” without reporting their ratings or distinguishing their results. Select and compare the key figures more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph on satisfaction. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information. Linking expressions such as “In contrast,” “In addition,” and “Moreover” help connect points, although some are used mechanically or repeat similar relationships. The final paragraph also shifts between opening hours, books, Wi-Fi, and journals without a clear order, and the mistaken 95% figure makes the comparison harder to follow. Grouping the satisfaction results from highest to lowest, or discussing each feature consistently, would improve progression. Clearer references and more precise links between comparisons would make the organisation more effective.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “categories,” “majority,” “satisfied,” and “availability,” so the main subject is usually clear. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “Full-time graduates” does not match the chart label, “acquires only 7%” is unsuitable for describing a proportion, and “at the bottom” is vague for survey results. There are also spelling errors such as “staisfied” and “Reliabilty,” alongside inconsistent forms such as “wifi.” These slips do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and control. Use the chart’s exact category names and practise standard reporting phrases such as “accounted for” and “received the lowest satisfaction ratings.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response includes both simple statements and some longer sentences, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, there are some errors in agreement, articles, sentence construction, and punctuation. For example, “The pie chart gives illustrates” combines two verbs, while “the table provide” should have subject–verb agreement. The opening sentence also joins two clauses without a clear grammatical structure. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, and several sentences contain comma splices or run-on punctuation, such as the sentence beginning “Full-time graduates are 44%.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas less clear. Check each sentence for one correctly formed main verb, agreement, and appropriate sentence boundaries.
