Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The Following Pie Chart demonstrates the categories of library users and a list of library user satisfaction percentage. It illustrates the data of the survey conducted at the university for library users.
The data indicates the following information, the categories of library users in a form of pie chart and the other data shows the satisfaction level in percentage of the library users.
The pie chart data label as categories of library users has the following categories such as ; Academic staff, full-time undergraduates, full-time post graduates, part-time post graduates and distance learning for all the courses. The table shows the percentage of library user satisfaction relatively to the opening hours, helpfulness of the staff, availability of the books, availability of journals and the reliability of Wi-fi.
The categories of library users are mostly significant in full time undergraduates about 44% relative to that on top the second most percentage of the users were full time postgraduates at 25% after that at the third place comes the part time postgraduates with 16% and at last comes the two categories the distance learning of all courses and the academic staff, at a single figure 8% and 7% .
The table shows the satisfaction level of the users as mostly are very satisfied with the library opening hours and the helpfulness of the staff. The availability of the books are where half percentage of people are very satisfied and the the 10% population is not satisfied with the availability of the books. The availability of journals are where majority of the population is mostly very satisfied and 20% of the population are not satisfied with it. At last comes the reliability of the wi-fi as its the same case like the journal one where only 19% percent of the people are not satisfied and the remaining 81% are mostly very satisfied or fairly satisfied.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify both visuals and report several key figures accurately, including the largest user group (full-time undergraduates, 44%), the next largest (full-time postgraduates, 25%), and the 0% dissatisfaction with opening hours and staff helpfulness. However, the response does not give a clear, concise overview of the main patterns across both visuals. The satisfaction discussion is sometimes imprecise: for example, journals are not “mostly very satisfied” because 45% selected this option, while 35% were fairly satisfied and 20% not satisfied. The wi-fi figures are also described as “mostly very satisfied or fairly satisfied” without distinguishing the 48% and 33%. Select the strongest comparisons and report them precisely, including the high staff rating and the lower ratings for journals and wi-fi.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable sequence: it introduces the visuals, describes the user categories, and then discusses satisfaction. This gives the reader some organisation. However, the first two paragraphs repeat the same introductory information, and the later paragraphs often list details without a clear hierarchy of importance. Linking phrases such as “after that,” “at last,” and “the same case” are repetitive or imprecise, so relationships between comparisons are not always clear. Use a brief introduction, a distinct overview, and focused body paragraphs, grouping the strongest satisfaction results together and contrasting them with the weaker ones. Clearer referencing would also help readers follow which category or rating each statement concerns.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “categories,” “satisfaction level,” “availability,” and “reliability,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “percentage,” “population,” and “mostly,” and several phrases are awkward or imprecise, including “at a single figure” and “the same case like the journal one.” Some word forms and spelling conventions are inconsistent, as in “post graduates” and “Wi-fi.” Aim for more precise reporting language and natural collocations, such as “accounted for,” “rated,” and “the proportion who were dissatisfied.” This would make the description more concise and accurate without relying on repeated general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts longer sentences and uses some subordinate clauses, but complex constructions are often difficult to control. For example, “The categories of library users are mostly significant in full time undergraduates” has an unclear grammatical relationship, while “The availability of the books are where half percentage of people are very satisfied” contains agreement and sentence-structure problems. There are also repeated issues with articles, plurals, and punctuation, such as “the the 10% population” and the comma and full stop placement around figures. These errors sometimes make comparisons harder to follow. Build more sentences around a clear subject and verb, check singular/plural agreement, and use shorter sentences when reporting several figures.
