Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the two main user groups correctly: full-time undergraduates (44%) and full-time postgraduates (25%), and you note that academic staff make up the smallest group (7%). You also include relevant satisfaction figures, such as 95% being very satisfied with staff helpfulness and no dissatisfaction with opening hours or staff. However, the overview is incomplete: it says users are mostly satisfied with opening hours but does not capture the particularly strong rating for staff helpfulness or the more mixed views of books, journals and wi-fi. Some details are unclear or inaccurate, including “40% Availability of books has upper hand in fairly satisfied figure”; 40% is the fairly satisfied figure, while 50% are very satisfied. Covering the main contrasts more clearly would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to user categories and then satisfaction results. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is uneven: the final paragraph combines several satisfaction categories without a clear order, and the comparison between staff helpfulness and journals is not fully explained. Linking phrases such as “Overall” and “on the other hand” are used, but the latter does not clearly signal the relationship between the figures that follow. Paragraphing and clearer topic sentences would help separate the two charts and guide the reader through the comparisons. Check capitalisation at the start of sentences as well.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “survey,” “satisfaction,” “availability,” and “respectively,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning awkward, such as “There are two majority,” “has upper hand,” and “are utilising the library.” There are also spelling errors, including “respresents,” “postgarduates,” “ustilising,” and “libarary,” which reduce accuracy and polish. Aim for standard chart-reporting expressions such as “accounted for,” “the largest proportion,” and “were very satisfied.” More precise wording would make the comparisons easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “whereas” and a comparison using “compared to.” However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to understand. For example, “There are two majority of individuals are using library” contains an incorrect construction, while “40% Availability of books has upper hand in fairly satisfied figure” lacks a clear grammatical relationship between the subject and the percentage. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “academic staff is using less.” Practise forming clear subject–verb sentences and use consistent punctuation to make each comparison complete.
