Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important features accurately: full-time undergraduates form the largest user group at 44%, academic staff the smallest at 7%, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction result, with 95% very satisfied and none dissatisfied. You also note that journal dissatisfaction is highest. However, the response does not give a clear, balanced overview of the main patterns across both visuals, and some comparisons are vague or incomplete. For example, “full time postgrads uses library more than part time ones” is correct, but the figures of 25% and 16% would make the comparison clearer. The claim that distance learners “do not get the chance to visit the campus” is not shown by the data. Report the figures neutrally and compare satisfaction levels more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response follows a generally sensible order, discussing the user categories before moving to satisfaction, and it uses basic links such as “According to chart” and “the table illustrates.” This gives the reader a broad sense of the two visuals. However, the ideas are crowded into one paragraph, and the progression within the satisfaction section is not always clear: the response moves from staff to journals, opening hours, then back to books, journals and wi-fi. Some links are also awkward or repetitive, and the final sentence largely repeats earlier information rather than concluding with a clear summary. Use separate paragraphs for the chart and table, then group the strongest satisfaction results and the less positive results in a logical order.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “majority,” “least,” “satisfaction level,” “dissatisfaction,” and “reliability,” so the reader can understand the main comparisons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, such as “the least visiting ones,” “students are satisfied with staff,” and “65% very satisfies.” Repeated use of “users,” “satisfied,” and “availability” also makes the description less precise. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “availibility,” “followedby,” and “satifsied,” which reduce control. Aim for concise chart language such as “accounted for,” “rated very satisfied,” and “the highest proportion of dissatisfaction,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentence forms, for example “as distance learners do not get the chance to visit the campus, they comprises only 8%,” but these attempts are often faulty. Subject–verb agreement errors occur in “they comprises” and “full time postgrads uses,” while missing or incorrect articles appear in “According to chart” and “visiting library.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, including the lower-case starts after full stops and the run-together phrase “followedby.” Most sentences are understandable, but the repeated errors sometimes make the relationships between ideas less clear. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then add subordinate clauses while checking agreement, articles and punctuation.
