Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for the largest share, while academic staff are the smallest. You also note that staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction result and that dissatisfaction is generally low. However, the overview is incomplete and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, you say “availability of staff was the lowest” in the very-satisfied category, but the table shows availability of journals at 45%, below books (50%) and wi-fi (48%); staff helpfulness is highest at 95%. You also claim opening hours and staff helpfulness had a poor not-satisfied grade, although both recorded 0%. Report the key contrasts accurately and include the notable dissatisfaction for journals (20%) and wi-fi (19%).
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an opening overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This helps the reader distinguish the two sets of information, and phrases such as “moving forward” signal a change in detail. However, progression within the satisfaction paragraph is difficult to follow because several facilities and ratings are grouped together without clear comparisons. The final sentence is especially confusing, as it describes zero-dissatisfaction categories as having a “poor grade.” Some linking expressions also feel mechanical or imprecise. Organise the satisfaction figures in a clear order—for example, strongest positive ratings first, then the lower ratings and highest dissatisfaction—and use explicit comparisons to connect them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “marginal drop,” “classification,” and “satisfaction,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. “Results carried out by survey” is not a natural way to describe the data, and “poor grade” does not accurately describe a satisfaction percentage. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “tetriary,” “imstitution,” “recored,” “sevtion,” “Availablity,” and “reliablity.” Use precise terms such as “survey results,” “share,” “rating,” and “dissatisfaction,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid repeating broad phrases such as “had the highest numbers” when a specific percentage or rating is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use subordinate structures, as in “Among this five, helpfulness of staff had the best record,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence construction and agreement occur in phrases such as “there where also other features” and “Among this five,” while the opening sentence lacks a clear grammatical structure. Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable: “overall” begins a sentence in lowercase, and commas are sometimes placed awkwardly or separated from the preceding word. These problems can make relationships between ideas difficult to interpret, particularly in the final sentence. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses; check subject–verb agreement, articles, plural forms, and sentence boundaries during editing.
