Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the main user groups and report their percentages accurately, including the largest group (full-time undergraduates, 44%) and the smaller shares for academic staff and distance learners. You also recognise that the table concerns satisfaction with library services. However, the response is incomplete: the table figures stop at “books availbilty 50% and 4”, so several key results are missing, including staff helpfulness, journals and Wi-Fi. There is no clear overview comparing the strongest and weakest satisfaction results, and the opening-hours figures are given without explaining their categories. The response is also 10 words below the required minimum. To improve, complete the summary and highlight that staff helpfulness received the highest satisfaction, while journals and Wi-Fi attracted more dissatisfaction.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some basic organisation: it introduces the two visuals, describes the user categories, and then turns to the satisfaction table. Phrases such as “On the other hand” signal a shift between topics, and the figures for library users are presented in a generally understandable sequence. However, the progression is not fully clear because the table discussion is cut off, and the repeated use of “On the other hand” does not express a meaningful contrast in both places. The paragraphing also does not clearly separate an overview from detailed comparisons. Use a short overview paragraph, then one paragraph for user categories and another for satisfaction, with linking phrases that show comparison or addition accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “portion”, “undergraduates”, “postgraduates”, “satisfaction” and “availability”, so the reader can identify the subject of each visual. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the report less clear, such as “illautrates”, “domin ent”, “statis faction” and “libraray”. Some expressions are also imprecise: “different time zones” does not describe the service categories in the table, and “well working wifi” is less suitable than a standard description of Wi-Fi reliability. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “proportion”, “respondents” and “rated” would help you describe the data clearly without relying on repeated general words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually follow the basic meaning. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in articles, agreement and sentence construction. For example, “Pie chart have” needs a subject article and a singular verb, while “table display” also needs an article and verb agreement. In “there is a 44% of undergrauates”, the construction is not grammatically appropriate for reporting a percentage. The final sentence is incomplete, ending with “50% and 4”. Practise complete comparative sentences, such as “Undergraduates accounted for 44% of users,” and check articles, singular/plural forms and verb agreement before finishing.
