Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given figures illustrates survey of library users at the university where the pie chart depicts categories of library users and table shows the data of library user satisfaction.

over all the full time undergraduates have a highest number of proportion in categories of library user meanwhile the most user satisfied with helpfulness of staff and unsatisfied with availability of journal.

The categories of library users shows the pie chart key analysis, where very high ratio for full time undergraduates compare to others, then on second position with 25% of portion accessed by the full time post graduate students although analysis shows 16% coverage in chart for the part time post graduates after full time postgraduates students while the academic staff and distance learning shows very similar ratio.

The library user satisfaction data is presented in form of the table which is categorised in to 3 options (very satisfied, fairly satisfied and Not satisfied) the satisfaction of users are based on multiple factors where the 95% users showing satisfied response for helpfullness of staff and 5% are fairly satisifed after this library opening hours is the second factor where 65% person shows the fullfillment and 35% people depicts barely pleasured after this moving toward the availability of books where the responses are very similar between very satisfied and fairly satisfied but 10% users are not satified in addition if we compare with availability of journals and reliability of wifi network shows very similar values for all three fields.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main features: full-time undergraduates form the largest user group, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction ratings. You also report several figures accurately, including 44%, 25%, 16%, and the 95% very satisfied with staff. However, some comparisons are unclear or incomplete. For example, saying the academic staff and distance-learning groups have a “very similar ratio” is broadly reasonable, but their values are 7% and 8%; naming them would make the comparison precise. The overview also says users are “unsatisfied with availability of journal,” although the table shows the highest dissatisfaction for journals (20%), not that most users are dissatisfied. Develop the overview more carefully and distinguish the largest dissatisfaction share from the overall response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of the chart and table. This helps the reader identify the two visual elements. However, progression within the body is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the long final paragraph, which moves through several factors in one sentence. Linking phrases such as “after this” and “in addition” are repeated or do not clearly show the relationship between points. The comparison of journals and wi-fi is also left vague. Use shorter units to group related figures—for example, opening hours and staff helpfulness, then books, journals, and wi-fi—and make each comparison explicit. This would create clearer progression and reduce the need for mechanical transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “satisfaction,” “availability,” and “reliability,” and you attempt to describe comparisons. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Phrases such as “accessed by” for a share of users, “shows the fulfillment,” and “barely pleasured” do not express the intended survey results naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “helpfullness,” “satisifed,” and “wifi.” Aim for precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “rated,” and “dissatisfied,” and check spelling carefully. A more controlled set of accurate terms would make the report clearer and more appropriate to an academic summary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “where” and “although.” However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and errors in agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries recur. For example, “The given figures illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “the satisfaction of users are based” also mismatches subject and verb. The final paragraph joins many ideas with commas, making the sentence hard to process. Use a clear subject and verb in each sentence, check singular and plural forms, and divide long sentences when introducing a new factor. More accurate control of these basic patterns would make your comparisons easier to understand.
