Student answer (Band 4.5)
This chart gives us information about the library users at university level. First of all, I have clearly seen full time undergraduate ratio is 44%. It is highly increased from all the given chart information. Secondly, this chart discussed about the full time postgraduate. The postgraduate ratio is 25% which is lower then the full time undergraduate. Then, this chart provide information about part time postgraduate. Part time postgraduate ratio is 16% which is decreased from the full time and post and under graduate. Furthermore, distance learning of all courses and academic staff were also discussed in this chart. The distance learning ratio is 8% and academic staff ratio is 7% which is further decreased from all the given chart information.
Overall, the shown information about the library users on the chart is decreasing trend. Full time graduate ratio is 44%. post time graduate ratio is 25%. Part time post graduate ratio is 16%. Distance learning ratio is 8% and academic staff ratio is 7%. So overall, It's a decreasing trend about library users.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify several correct figures from the user-category chart, including 44% for full-time undergraduates and 7% for academic staff. However, the response addresses only this chart and omits the table on satisfaction, which is a major part of the task. The overview that users show a “decreasing trend” is also too broad: the categories are proportions, not a trend over time, and the figures do not explain changes. There is also a mislabelled figure in the conclusion: “Full time graduate ratio is 44%” should refer to full-time undergraduates, while full-time postgraduates account for 25%. To improve, summarise both visuals and highlight the strongest satisfaction results, such as staff helpfulness, alongside the user-category pattern.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, a sequence of details, and a concluding paragraph. Connectors such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “Furthermore” help signal the order of points. However, the progression is repetitive: the conclusion restates the same percentages rather than drawing together the main features, and “Overall” introduces a claim that is then repeated. The repeated use of “this chart” also makes the writing sound mechanical, while the table is not integrated into the organisation at all. Grouping the user categories in one paragraph and the satisfaction findings in another, followed by a concise overview, would make the information easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main category figures, including “ratio,” “decreased,” and “information.” However, the range is limited and several choices are imprecise or repetitive. “Ratio” is not the most natural term for these percentages; “proportion” or “share” would be more suitable. “Highly increased” suggests a change over time, although the chart compares categories, and “decreasing trend” similarly misrepresents the data. Phrases such as “all the given chart information” are vague, and “full time and post and under graduate” is difficult to interpret. Use precise chart language and vary repeated references, for example, “the largest group” and “accounted for.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Most sentences follow a simple subject–verb pattern, and the reader can generally understand the figures being reported. There are attempts to link clauses, as in “The distance learning ratio is 8% and academic staff ratio is 7%,” but the range of sentence structures remains narrow. Errors include “full time undergraduate ratio is 44%,” where an article is needed, “the chart discussed,” which uses an unsuitable tense, and “lower then,” where the comparison form is incorrectly written. The conclusion also has inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation, including “It's” mid-sentence. Practise accurate comparative structures and articles, and combine some short statements into controlled complex sentences while checking verb forms and punctuation.
