Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify both parts of the visual and report many figures accurately, including the user-category percentages and the satisfaction results for opening hours, staff, books, journals and Wi-Fi. However, the response mainly lists data rather than selecting and summarising the main features; it gives no clear overview, such as staff being the most positively rated aspect and journals receiving the highest dissatisfaction. The phrase “full time graduate” also mislabels the 25% group, which is full-time postgraduate. The response is 131 words, below the required 150, so it is under-length and has limited scope for a developed summary. Add an overview and make the key comparisons explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The information is presented in a broadly sensible order: user categories first, followed by satisfaction ratings. This gives the reader a basic route through the data. However, the response is one continuous block with no paragraphing or clear overview, and most details are joined by repeated “and” or simply placed next to one another. As a result, the figures read like a list rather than a connected summary. Some transitions between topics are abrupt, particularly the move from book availability to journal satisfaction and then Wi-Fi. Use separate paragraphs for the two visuals, group related satisfaction results, and add linking language that highlights contrasts, such as the difference between staff ratings and journal ratings.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to identify the main categories and satisfaction levels, using terms such as “academic staff,” “availability of books,” “fairly satisfied” and “not satisfied.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing survey results. “Showed the satisfaction” and “shows trust on the availability” do not express the intended meaning clearly; “hardly satisfied” is also not equivalent to “not satisfied.” Repetition of “satisfied” and “visit the library” makes the account less precise. Choose standard reporting collocations such as “were satisfied with,” “rated the service positively,” and “reported dissatisfaction,” and use the exact category labels from the chart.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response communicates a sequence of figures, but it relies almost entirely on simple sentence patterns and has frequent errors in agreement, articles and sentence boundaries. For example, “65 percent student were satisfied” has a singular/plural mismatch, while “45 percent was very satisfied” should use a plural subject and verb. The opening, “This charts indicats,” also contains agreement errors. Several statements run together without full stops, making the relationships between ideas harder to follow. There is little evidence of controlled complex structures. Practise accurate plural constructions such as “65% of students were…” and use complete sentences with consistent punctuation; then add a few comparison clauses to show a wider grammatical range.
