Student answer (Band 6.0)
The bar chart gives the proportion of library user's age profile and the table gives the proportion of satisfaction of library users against five aspects.
Overall, full-time undergraduate students make majority of the users. Most users are very satisfied with the library opening time and staff helpfulness, whereas some are not satisfied with the availablity of journals and relaibility of wi-fi.
The library users' age profile data reports that 44% of the users are full-time undergraduate students, followed by full-time postgraduate students at 25%, and part-time postgraduate students at 16%. Distance learners and academic staff are the least represented categories with 8% and 7% representation.
The users satsifaction data shows that 95% of the users are very satisfied with staff helpfulness, and 65% with the opening hours with no one unsatisfied. However, around one-fith of the users are not satisfied with the avai

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, ahead of full-time postgraduates at 25%, and you note the strong satisfaction with staff and opening hours. However, the response does not fully report the satisfaction table: it begins to mention dissatisfaction with journals and Wi-Fi but ends mid-sentence, and gives no figures for books or journals’ satisfaction levels. The overview is relevant, though “some are not satisfied” could be more precise, since dissatisfaction is highest for journals (20%) and Wi-Fi (19%). The response is also 7 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the report, complete the comparison of all five aspects and include the key satisfaction figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for user categories and satisfaction. Sequencing is generally logical, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “followed by,” and “However” help guide the reader. The main weakness is that the final paragraph stops abruptly at “the avai,” leaving the discussion incomplete and disrupting the progression. Some references are also broad, such as “the users satisfaction data,” without clearly signalling which aspects are being compared. Finish the final paragraph and organise the satisfaction results from highest to lowest or by contrasting positive and negative responses to make the progression more complete and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “represented categories,” “very satisfied,” and “not satisfied.” These choices communicate the main points, and terms such as “full-time undergraduate students” are appropriately specific. However, several spelling errors—“availablity,” “relaibility,” “satsifaction,” and “avaiable”—reduce accuracy. Some phrasing is also imprecise or unnatural: “age profile” is misleading because the chart categorises users by role or study status, and “opening time” is less suitable than “opening hours.” Use accurate labels and check spelling carefully; more precise expressions such as “user categories” and “dissatisfied” would make the report more concise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and most of the meaning remains clear. For example, the overview contrasts user groups with satisfaction levels, while the category paragraph uses a sequence of comparisons. Some grammatical issues remain. In “library user's age profile,” the possessive form is incorrect, and “make majority of the users” needs an article and a more suitable verb construction. “The proportion of satisfaction … against five aspects” is also awkwardly structured. The final sentence is incomplete, so it cannot show a finished grammatical relationship. Aim for complete sentences and check articles, possessives, and sentence completion; these improvements would make your otherwise understandable comparisons more controlled.
