Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both visuals and identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates make up 44%, while academic staff and distance learners are the smallest groups at 7% and 8%. You also select relevant satisfaction figures, including 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and the higher dissatisfaction with journals and Wi-Fi. However, the overview is limited and partly unclear: it focuses on user categories but does not summarise the main satisfaction pattern, such as the strong ratings for staff and opening hours compared with weaker ratings for journals and Wi-Fi. Some table comparisons are also imprecise; for example, 5% were fairly satisfied with staff helpfulness, not the least satisfied with it. A clearer overview and more accurate reporting of the table would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about user categories, and a final paragraph about satisfaction. This helps the reader distinguish the two visuals, and sequencing expressions such as “After that” show an attempt to guide the comparison. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or joined without clear relationships. The pie-chart details repeat the overview, while the table paragraph shifts between very satisfied, fairly satisfied, and not satisfied without consistently identifying which rating each figure refers to. Some linking words, including “However,” do not clearly signal a contrast. Use one concise overview, then group table details by satisfaction pattern and make references explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “accounted for the largest proportion,” “represented,” “percentage,” and “satisfied,” so the reader can generally understand the subject and comparisons. There is also some variation in how you describe proportions. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “the result of a survey” is less natural than “the results,” “least very satisfied” is unclear, and “lest represented” does not communicate the intended comparison. Errors such as “stisfaction,” “alos,” and “real iability” also detract from control. Aim for accurate, consistent terms such as “share,” “proportion,” and “dissatisfied,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and some basic structures communicate the figures successfully, such as “Full-time undergraduate accounted for the largest percentage, at 44%.” However, complex sentences are often faulty or incomplete, which can make relationships between ideas hard to interpret. For example, “As per the table, the table depicted library user stisfaction most user were satisfied…” runs several clauses together without appropriate sentence boundaries. There are also recurring problems with articles, plurals, agreement, and punctuation, as in “categories of library users full time undergraduate accounted…” and the missing full stop at the end of the pie-chart paragraph. Use shorter, complete sentences and check subject–verb agreement and clause boundaries.
