Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both the user categories and satisfaction results, and the overview correctly identifies full-time undergraduates as the largest group and academic staff as the smallest. Most figures are reported accurately, including opening hours and the wi-fi results. However, there is a significant data error for books: 5% were fairly satisfied, but the table shows 40%; 10% were not satisfied. The statement “All the library users were satisfied with the staff” is broadly supported by the 95% very satisfied and 5% fairly satisfied figures, but would be stronger with those figures included. The response addresses the task, though some comparisons and details are less fully reported. Check each table value carefully and make the overview cover the main satisfaction patterns as well as user categories.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview of user categories, and a paragraph reporting satisfaction. This makes the information easy to follow, and phrases such as “while” and “whereas” help signal comparisons. However, the overview is largely a list of category rankings, while the satisfaction information has no comparable summary of its main pattern. Some transitions are mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “while” and “followed by,” and the final paragraph moves through several topics in quick succession. Improve progression by grouping the strongest satisfaction results together and then contrasting them with the less positive ratings for books, journals and wi-fi. Clearer sentence boundaries and consistent spacing after full stops would also help the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing proportions and satisfaction, including “proportion,” “divided opinion,” and “very satisfied.” However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural for a chart report. “Secured a third spot” and “secured 7% seats” sound informal and do not describe the data precisely; “visiters” and “statisfied” are also misspelled. The phrase “a small spot” is unclear, and “disatisfied” is repeatedly misspelled. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but they limit precision and naturalness. Prefer standard reporting language such as “accounted for,” “represented,” and “dissatisfied,” and use “library users” rather than implying that the percentages measure frequency of visits.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and more complex comparisons, for example, “while 35% were fairly satisfied” and “whereas 35% was fairly satisfied.” The main information is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. The opening sentence has subject–verb disagreement: “The pie chart and table gives” should be “give.” There are also missing spaces after full stops, as in “university. The” and “satisfied.People,” which affect punctuation. In “35% was fairly satisfied,” the percentage refers to users, so plural agreement (“35% were”) is more appropriate; the same issue occurs with “35% was” for journals. Continue varying sentence structures, while checking agreement, sentence boundaries and punctuation carefully.
