Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both visuals and include a clear overview, noting that full-time undergraduates form the largest user group and academic staff the smallest, and that staff helpfulness receives particularly strong satisfaction. However, the overview is partly inaccurate: the chart labels the largest group as full-time undergraduates, not “full-time graduate,” and the table shows 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness, rather than establishing that this is the only service with strong satisfaction. Several important comparisons are omitted or unclear, including the 65% very satisfied with opening hours and the relatively high dissatisfaction with journals and wi-fi. Some figures are reported correctly, but the response only partially selects and summarises the main features, and a few descriptions are imprecise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the chart and table. This makes the two sources easy to distinguish, and phrases such as “In the pie chart” and “In the table” help guide the reader. However, progression within the table paragraph is less controlled: satisfaction figures are mentioned in a scattered order, and the comparison between the highest and lowest results is not consistently clear. Some linking expressions, including “On the other hand” and “Among all,” do not express the relationships precisely. More systematic grouping—for example, comparing the strongest positive ratings first, then the areas with greater dissatisfaction—would make the information flow more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “proportion,” “satisfied,” and “availability,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range and control are limited by repeated or imprecise wording. “People,” “users,” and “individuals” recur without adding much precision, while “the lowest around 45% persons” is difficult to interpret as a comparison. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “acadmeic,” “caterogries,” “propotion,” and “availabaility,” which reduce accuracy. Choose standard chart language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe a percentage as a share or proportion and use “very satisfied” consistently for the table’s rating category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentences, and the opening sentence successfully contrasts the chart with the table. However, grammatical control is uneven, particularly in sentence construction and articles. For example, “while table depicts the result” needs an article, and “Among all types of users were full-time graduates” has an incomplete structure; a clearer form would be “Full-time undergraduates made up the largest group.” Agreement and verb forms also need attention in “only least figure of academic staff uses library each day.” Several long sentences combine comparisons without clear grammatical links, which can make the meaning difficult to follow. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences before adding subordinate clauses, and check articles and plural forms.
