Categories of library users

Categories of library users

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The pie and the table provide key information about the results of survey according to the users at university library, the units are measured in percentage.

Overall, it is clear from the first graph that the largest categories of the library users accounted for the full time undergraduate, while in the same category the smallest proportion represented the academic staff, whereas in the library user satisfaction it illustrates that all the typs are satisfied, the less percentage are not satisfied.

according to the pie chart the largest precentage represent the full time undergraduate almost a half, compared to the full time postgraduate two times which means 25%,while part time postgraduate accounted for 16 precent, moving to the distance learning and academic staffare the least users of the library by 8 and 7 perecent respectively.

in terms of the second graph, the most of the gategory are satisfacted, the most satisfacted category represent the helpfulness of staff by 95%, the second ranked for library poening hourse by 65 precent, whereas the highest not satisfied category belonges to availability of journals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates make up 44%, while academic staff are the smallest group at 7%. You also report several other user proportions and correctly note that staff helpfulness has the highest very-satisfied figure (95%) and journals have the highest dissatisfaction (20%). This gives the response relevant coverage of both visuals. However, the overview is unclear when it says “all the typs are satisfied,” and the satisfaction table is only partly described: for example, the 50% very satisfied with books and the 48% for wi-fi are not discussed. Some comparisons are also imprecise, such as “two times” for the postgraduate figure. A clearer overview and more selective, accurate comparison of satisfaction results would make the key features more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the information broadly easy to follow, and phrases such as “compared to” and “whereas” help signal comparisons. However, progression within the final paragraph is limited: it moves from staff helpfulness to opening hours and journals without explaining how these figures relate to the other satisfaction results. The overview also combines two different points in a confusing sentence, particularly “all the typs are satisfied, the less percentage are not satisfied.” Use clearer topic sentences and organise the table details by a consistent feature, such as highest satisfaction followed by dissatisfaction. More precise referencing would also help readers track which chart or category is being discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “largest categories,” “proportion,” “accounted for” and “not satisfied,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range and control are limited by repeated or inaccurate wording. “The most satisfacted category” is not a natural expression, and “the most of the gategory are satisfacted” makes the meaning difficult to interpret. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “precentage,” “poening hourse” and “perecent,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the report. Aim for standard chart language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a group as having the “highest proportion of very satisfied users,” rather than calling it the “most satisfacted category.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including comparisons with “while” and “whereas,” and the overall meaning can usually be recovered. However, some sentence structures are faulty or incomplete. In “the largest categories … accounted for the full time undergraduate,” the singular group is awkwardly framed as a category, and the sentence needs clearer grammatical construction. The overview’s clause “all the typs are satisfied, the less percentage are not satisfied” joins ideas without a suitable connector and has unclear agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “results of survey” and the long opening sentence. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related points with accurate clauses and punctuation.
