Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the main user group as full-time undergraduates (44%) and correctly report the next two largest groups, showing some relevant selection of chart data. However, the response is incomplete: it stops after reporting opening-hours satisfaction and does not summarise the other four satisfaction categories or give an overall comparison of the results. The statement that the library was “least visited” by academic staff and distance learners also misrepresents the chart, which shows user proportions rather than visit frequency. The response contains 118 words, below the required 150, which further limits coverage. To improve, include a clear overview and compare the strongest and weakest satisfaction results, using accurate descriptions of what the figures represent.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the visuals, describes the user categories, then turns to the satisfaction table. This gives the reader some sense of the task’s two parts. However, progression is limited because the table discussion ends abruptly after one result, and the standalone sentence “Survey was divided into 3 sections based on five types of experiences” does not clearly connect to the information that follows. Paragraphing is also minimal, while links between ideas are mostly absent. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and focused paragraphs for the chart and table. Use clear transitions such as “Regarding satisfaction” and ensure each paragraph develops a complete point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “share,” “availability,” and “reliability,” and the reader can generally understand the topic. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “library visit” suggests frequency rather than the proportion of users, “the library least visited” is not supported by the chart, and “experiences in library” is imprecise. There are also spelling or word-form problems in “undergrades” and “postgrades.” Aim for accurate chart language and natural collocations, for example, “accounted for,” “user groups,” and “satisfaction with.” This would make the limited range more precise and reduce strain on the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, such as the sentence listing the three largest user groups, but control is inconsistent. In “The shown pie chart and table illustrates,” the compound subject requires a plural verb, and “who accounts 25%” has an agreement error and is missing “for.” The phrase “experiences based library opening hours” also lacks the necessary preposition, while the final table entry is a sentence fragment rather than a complete sentence. Punctuation and spacing are uneven, including the extra “9” on a separate line. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, articles and prepositions, and make sure each data point is expressed in a complete, correctly punctuated sentence.
