Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, followed by full-time postgraduates at 25%, and you note that staff and opening hours receive strong satisfaction. However, some key details are incomplete or imprecise. The user-category figures for part-time postgraduates and distance learners are not reported, and the satisfaction overview would be clearer if it highlighted that staff helpfulness leads at 95% very satisfied, while journals have the highest dissatisfaction at 20%. Wi-fi dissatisfaction is 19%, not the highest. The books figures are also left vague despite being available. The response is 137 words, below the required 150, which limits the opportunity to report and compare the data fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the user categories and satisfaction results. Some linking is effective, as in “followed by” and “Meanwhile,” but progression within the paragraphs is occasionally unclear. For example, “Whereas, distance learning and academic staff experienced lower figures” does not specify the figures or complete a clear comparison, and the final sentence moves between satisfaction levels without explaining the comparison. The overview also combines several points in a compressed way. To strengthen organisation, group the user percentages together and then compare satisfaction results in a consistent order, using clear references to each category.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “availability,” “satisfied,” and “unsatisfactory,” and you attempt more formal phrasing such as “recorded the highest proportion.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, which makes some statements less clear. “Satisfactory and unsatifactory candidates” is not an appropriate description of survey responses; “satisfaction levels among respondents” would be more natural. “Usage of the library” also misrepresents the chart, which shows user categories rather than usage. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “mantained,” “recored,” and “availabilty.” Aim for precise terms such as “respondents,” “very satisfied,” and “dissatisfied,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “While candidates were mostly satisfied…” and the comparison beginning “Whereas…”. The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. The opening sentence needs an article and a clearer clause structure: “The chart demonstrates…” should be followed by a properly coordinated description of what the table shows. In “Full-time undergraduate had 44% usage,” the singular category is treated as a person, and the sentence pattern is awkward; use “Full-time undergraduates made up 44% of users.” Several sentences run together after percentages, while “Whereas” is used as a fragment. Use complete clauses, consistent plural forms, and clearer sentence boundaries.
