Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both visuals and provide a clear overview, identifying full-time undergraduates as the largest user group and academic staff as the smallest. You also select useful satisfaction comparisons, especially the high rating for staff helpfulness and the strong results for opening hours. However, the overview includes an inaccurate generalisation: “very satisfied was higher in all categories” is not true, since for journals and wi-fi the very-satisfied share exceeds the fairly-satisfied share, but the statement about dissatisfaction declining is unclear and does not describe a trend in this table. There are also data errors: full-time postgraduate users are 25%, which is not more than half of the 44% undergraduate figure, and wi-fi dissatisfaction is 19%, not 10%. More precise reporting and a sharper overview would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the main sections easy to locate, and transitions such as “To begin with” and “Turning to” help signal the shift in focus. However, the overview’s comparisons are not always clear, and the final paragraph becomes crowded with several figures and comparisons in one long sentence. Some linking is mechanical, particularly repeated use of “Moreover” and “whereas,” while references such as “which was similar” do not always make the comparison precise. Grouping the satisfaction results into clearer comparisons—for example, top ratings versus lower ratings—would improve progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” “followed by,” and “recorded,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is not consistently controlled: phrases such as “highest users of library,” “ratio of library user satisfaction,” and “least from very satisfied” are unnatural or imprecise. Several spelling errors, including “failry,” “respresented,” “realibility,” and “availabilty,” also reduce accuracy. Repetition of “percentage,” “proportion,” and “people” limits flexibility. Aim for standard collocations such as “the largest user group” and “the share who were very satisfied,” and proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses linked with “whereas” and “followed by,” but control is inconsistent. Agreement errors appear in “the proportion … are highest” and “the ratio … were very satisfied”; these subjects require singular verb forms, and the latter sentence needs restructuring. The opening overview also has an incomplete comparison in “whereas lowest percentage share by academic staff.” In the final paragraph, long sentences joined by commas make relationships between clauses difficult to follow. Use shorter, complete sentences and check subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries. These recurring errors sometimes make the intended meaning less clear, although the main information remains understandable.
