Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the largest and smallest user groups and report several relevant satisfaction figures, including the 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and the 20% not satisfied with journals. However, coverage is partial: the table also includes opening hours, books and wi-fi, which are not discussed, and the overview does not clearly summarise the main pattern across all facilities. The claim that journals are the “worst facility” is not fully supported, since wi-fi has a similar level of dissatisfaction (19%), while journals are indeed the highest at 20%. Your final recommendation about improving facilities is not a chart feature and takes space from reporting comparisons. Select the key contrasts across both visuals and present them accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the visuals, describes user categories, then turns to satisfaction and ends with a general comment. This gives the reader some overall direction. However, progression is limited because the satisfaction discussion jumps from staff helpfulness to journals and repeats “availability of journals,” while the other satisfaction categories are omitted. Linking is also sometimes awkward: “while” and “after that” do not clearly organise the comparisons, and the long sentence listing user groups is difficult to follow. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for the pie chart and table, and group the satisfaction results by clear contrasts, such as the strongest ratings versus the areas with more dissatisfaction.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “satisfaction level,” “helpfulness,” and “availability,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing survey data. “High amount of users” would be better expressed as “a relatively large proportion of users,” while “degrading number” does not accurately describe a descending sequence. “Worst facility” is too broad and evaluative; “the least positively rated aspect” is more precise. There are also spelling and spacing issues, such as “pstgraduate,” “piechart,” and “Distance learning(all courses).” Aim for accurate collocations and consistent formal wording rather than conversational or evaluative phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the main figures can usually be understood. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences that combine several comparisons. For example, “Full-time undergraduate holds highest percentage … while academic staff hold the lowest which is 44% and 7%” has unclear clause structure and reference; the figures should be attached directly to each group. There are also agreement and article errors in “Users seems” and “holds highest percentage,” and punctuation is inconsistent, especially where sentences run together after “45%.” Use a wider range of controlled sentence patterns, check subject–verb agreement, and separate each comparison with clear punctuation.
