Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both visuals and identify important features, including the largest user group (full-time undergraduates, 44%), the smallest (academic staff, 7%), and the high satisfaction with staff helpfulness (95%). You also report several figures accurately, such as opening hours and book availability. This gives the response a clear overview and relevant supporting detail. However, some comparisons are incomplete: the overview highlights wi-fi dissatisfaction but does not summarise the broader pattern across satisfaction categories, and the journal figures are not fully reported. The phrase “45%” for journals is left without specifying that this is very satisfied, while the 35% fairly satisfied and 20% not satisfied are omitted. More precise coverage of these less-developed details would strengthen the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph on satisfaction. This helps the reader distinguish the two visuals, and phrases such as “Overall” and “A closer look reveals” signal the stages of the report. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several figures are joined in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the overview moves from user categories to satisfaction without a clear comparison, and “On the other hand” does not establish a meaningful contrast with the preceding information. Some linking is repetitive or mechanical. Grouping satisfaction results more systematically—for example, strongest ratings first, then areas with more dissatisfaction—would make the relationships clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “survey,” “percentage,” “availability,” and “satisfied,” and the reader can generally understand which categories and services you mean. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated or used in unnatural combinations, such as “user of library,” “very satisfied user,” and “fairly satisfied user.” These expressions make the report less precise and fluent. There are also inconsistent forms such as “wifi” and “wi-fi,” and “full time” would be clearer as the standard compound adjective “full-time.” Aim to use accurate collocations for describing proportions and satisfaction, and vary reporting language without sacrificing clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex sentence forms, including “While, academic staff user of library are 7% at lower level,” but control is limited and many sentences contain errors in agreement, articles, or sentence construction. For example, “the full-time undergraduate are 44% user” has incorrect agreement and an unclear relationship between the percentage and the people; “65% user are very satisfied of library opening hours” also has problems with plural agreement and the preposition pattern. The sentence beginning “Availability of journals 45%, reliability of wifi…” is not a complete, clearly structured comparison. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Practise building accurate simple comparison sentences first, then combine them with controlled subordinate clauses.
