Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group and the smallest group accurately, and you include relevant satisfaction results, especially the 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and the 65% very satisfied with opening hours. However, coverage of the table is incomplete and some details are inaccurate: part-time postgraduates account for 16%, not 26%, and the 20% dissatisfied figure applies to journals, while 19% are dissatisfied with wi-fi. The overview also combines user categories with satisfaction rather than clearly summarising the main patterns across both visuals. To strengthen the response, report the key contrasts across the table—for example, staff helpfulness receives the highest satisfaction, while journals have the largest dissatisfied share—and ensure each figure is attached to the correct category.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the chart and table. This helps the reader distinguish the two visuals. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several ideas are crowded into long sentences. For example, the overview moves from the largest and smallest user groups directly to staff satisfaction without a clear transition. The table paragraph also joins opening hours, books, journals and wi-fi in a sequence that makes comparisons difficult to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and group related figures, such as the two strongest satisfaction results together and the less positive results separately. More precise linking and referencing would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary such as “full-time undergraduates,” “availability of books,” and “fairly satisfied,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are awkward, including “the least in pie chart,” “users safisfied with helpfulness,” and “very satisfies.” Repetition of “users,” “satisfied,” and “library” also makes the report less precise. Spelling errors such as “safisfied,” “lerning,” and “wifi” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, concise reporting language and vary expressions where appropriate, for example “accounted for,” “rated,” and “dissatisfied.” Check spelling and use standard forms such as “Wi-Fi” and “satisfaction.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main message is usually understandable. However, errors are frequent, particularly in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “the least in pie chart is of academic staff users” has an unclear grammatical structure, while “availability of books are limited” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “For various users availability of books…” is also difficult to parse because several ideas are joined without a clear clause structure. Articles and prepositions are sometimes missing or awkward, as in “satisfaction at library.” Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses. Check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb and that singular and plural forms agree.
