Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main user groups and report several accurate figures, including undergraduates at 44%, academic staff at 7%, and postgraduates at 25% and 16%. You also attempt an overview of satisfaction, but some interpretations are unclear or inaccurate: journals had the highest “not satisfied” share among the listed services (20%), while wi-fi had 19%, and journals were not mainly fairly satisfied (45% were very satisfied). The response also omits the 8% distance-learning figure from the detailed comparison and gives little precise information from the satisfaction table. The overview is relevant but underdeveloped, and the response is one word below the required 150-word minimum. Include clearer comparisons and accurately distinguish the satisfaction categories.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure: it introduces the two visuals, describes user categories, and then discusses satisfaction. This gives the reader a general sense of the task, and linking phrases such as “followed by” and “while” help connect some comparisons. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The final paragraph repeats points already made, and its long, loosely joined sentence combines several comparisons without a clear hierarchy. Some links are also awkward, such as “while there were mix feedback,” which makes the relationship between the ideas difficult to follow. Use a distinct overview and organise the details into focused paragraphs, grouping the strongest satisfaction results separately from the weaker ones.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “feedback,” “satisfied,” and “reliability,” and you attempt comparative language such as “maximum,” “minimum,” and “second highest.” However, the range is limited and several choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “large user,” “mix feedback,” and “not satisfied feedback.” Repeated use of “users” and “feedback” also makes the description less precise. Spelling errors such as “Acedemic,” “higest,” “Availablity,” and “Reliabilty” are noticeable and reduce clarity. Aim for accurate, natural phrases for proportions and satisfaction levels, and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a group as “the largest user category” and report “dissatisfaction” rather than “not satisfied feedback.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some complex sentences, using clauses linked by “while” and “followed by,” but control is inconsistent and the sentence patterns are mostly simple or joined loosely. Errors occur in basic agreement and articles: “The pie chart demonstrate” should be “The pie chart demonstrates,” and “table provide” needs “the table provides.” The phrase “Maximum library users were…” also lacks a clear grammatical structure, while the final sentence has faulty punctuation and an unclear construction (“had large user compred to other”). These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, article use, and complete comparative sentence forms, then use punctuation to separate the comparisons rather than joining them into one sentence.
