Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response covers both visuals and gives a clear overview: undergraduates form the largest user group, while academic staff are the smallest, and staff helpfulness and opening hours receive the strongest satisfaction. The figures reported for the user categories and the main satisfaction results are accurate. You also include useful detail on books, journals and Wi-Fi. This is a well-selected account of the main features, although the overview could be more precise: journals have the highest dissatisfaction (20%), but Wi-Fi is close at 19%, and books also have a notable 10% dissatisfied. The final comparison would be stronger if it included the fairly satisfied figures for journals and Wi-Fi, rather than describing their satisfaction only as “few.”

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the information easy to follow, and comparisons such as the largest and smallest user groups are placed together. The overview also helps the reader understand the main patterns before the details. To make the progression more consistently smooth, use clearer links between the satisfaction categories and avoid relying on repeated “and” constructions in the final paragraph. For example, the figures for books, journals and Wi-Fi could be grouped in a more deliberate comparison, with each item’s very, fairly and not satisfied results presented together. This would strengthen cohesion and reduce the slightly list-like ending.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “largest groups,” “followed by,” “satisfaction” and “availability.” These choices communicate the main information, but the range and precision are limited by repeated or inaccurate expressions. “Attend the survey” is not a natural way to describe the groups represented, while “not satisfaction” and “not satified” do not express the category accurately. There are also spelling errors such as “dissatifaction,” “satified,” “availablity” and “journels,” which reduce control of written vocabulary. Aim for standard chart language and check spelling carefully; more precise terms such as “respondents,” “dissatisfied” and “rated” would make the report clearer and more formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response includes some longer sentence forms, such as “In terms of satisfaction, users are most satisfied … whereas journals and wifi received …,” alongside simpler statements. However, grammatical control is uneven, and several errors affect sentence accuracy. For example, “large group of users is full time undergraduate attend the survey” has problems with articles, agreement and sentence structure; “Full-time undergraduate are the largest groups” also has a number-agreement error. The sentence beginning “And 0% not satisfaction” is incomplete, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Work on forming complete sentences, matching singular and plural subjects with verbs, and using articles consistently. More accurate control of these basic patterns would make the information easier to read.
