Student answer (Band 5.5)

The two given diagrams, a pie and table chart reveals the information about different categories who uses library and its user satisfaction, respectively. Overall, the library is used by students from regular courses and satisfactory is high.

According to the pie chart, the students who enrolled in Full-time undergraduate program contribute most of it by total number of one-twentieth less then a half following are full time post graduate learners who are at a exact quarter. Further more, Part-time postgraduates are in total about a half of a one-third. Finally, the last two are Distance learning students can be in any course and Academic staff who are eight and seven separately.

In the table, 65 person in library opening hours and 95 in helpfulness of staff and 50 in availability of books and 45 in availability of journals and 48 in reliability of wi-fi are very satisfied. Further more, a half number of total in LBH, 5 and 40 and 35 and 33 are fairly satisfied. However, 10 in AOB and 20 in AOJ and 19 in ROW are not satisfied.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify both visuals and include an overview, noting that full-time students make up the largest user group and that satisfaction is generally high. Several key figures are reported accurately, including the 44% undergraduate share and the 95% very satisfied with staff. However, the overview is broad and does not highlight the strongest contrasts in the table: staff helpfulness receives the highest satisfaction, while journals have the largest dissatisfied share. Some details are unclear or inaccurate: “one-twentieth less than a half” is an awkward way to express 44%, and “a half number of total in LBH” does not clearly report the 35% fairly satisfied figure. The response covers the task, but important comparisons and clearer reporting are needed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction and overview are followed by one paragraph on user categories and one on satisfaction. Sequencing within each paragraph is generally understandable, and signposts such as “Overall,” “According to,” and “However” help guide the reader. This coherent arrangement meets the lower-band expectations well. Some linking is mechanical or imprecise, however: “Further more” is repeated, and “the last two” does not clearly identify which categories are being discussed. The final paragraph also lists figures in a long sequence without grouping the satisfaction results into meaningful comparisons. To strengthen progression, organise the table data by notable patterns—for example, highest satisfaction, areas with more mixed responses, and dissatisfaction—and use clear references to each category.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary such as “categories,” “satisfaction,” “availability,” and “reliability,” and the reader can usually identify the chart topics. However, the range and control are limited by awkward or inaccurate expressions. “Satisfactory is high” is not a natural way to describe survey results; “satisfaction levels are generally high” would be clearer. Phrases such as “contribute most of it by total number,” “at a exact quarter,” and “a half of a one-third” make the proportions difficult to interpret. Abbreviations such as “LBH,” “AOB,” “AOJ,” and “ROW” are not established and reduce clarity. Use standard terms consistently, and report percentages directly rather than converting them into indirect fractions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a general overview and sentences that compare several figures. However, errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some statements difficult to follow. For example, “The two given diagrams … reveals” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “different categories who uses library” has an incorrect relative construction and verb form. “At a exact quarter” also shows an article error, and the long sentence beginning “Further more, a half number…” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Aim for shorter, complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement and articles, then add comparisons using controlled clauses such as “By contrast” or “whereas.”
