Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The piechart and table report information on percentage of library users and library user satisfaction respectively.
At a cursory glance, most of the library users are full-time undergraduate students. Helpfulness of staff is one parameter where maximum user satisfaction is reported. Most of the users are not satisfied with availability of journals.
Zooming in, the piechart illustrate's the percentage distribution of categories of library users. Full-time undergraduate students are 44% of total users, the most number of library users. Full-time postgraduate are 25%, part-time postgraduate at 16%, distance learning at 8% and the least ones are the academic staff at 7%.
The only two parameters where not satisfied percentage is reported at 0% are the library opening hours and helpfulness of staff. Moreover, helpfulness of staff sits at the 95% of very satisfied users, which is the highest amongst all the parameters of the survey. Availability of journals questionarre recorded the most diverse responses by library users. Furthermore, most of the users are not satisfied from availability of journals as its percentage is at 20%, followed by reliability of wi-fi at 19%.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response identifies the main features accurately: undergraduates form the largest user group (44%), staff the smallest (7%), staff helpfulness receives the strongest very-satisfied rating (95%), and journals attract the highest dissatisfaction (20%). It also reports the user-category figures and makes relevant comparisons with wi-fi. This gives the reader a clear overview and addresses both visuals. To strengthen the account further, include more of the satisfaction pattern, such as the high satisfaction with opening hours (65% very satisfied) and the comparatively lower very-satisfied figures for books, journals and wi-fi. The claim that journal responses were the “most diverse” is not clearly supported; describe the distribution directly instead. Overall, the key features are selected and supported, though coverage is not fully balanced across the table.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information is organised in a clear progression: an introduction, a concise overview, then details about user categories followed by satisfaction results. This makes the response easy to follow, and transitions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” help connect related points. The overview also usefully previews the largest user group and the strongest and weakest satisfaction results. Some linking is slightly mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Furthermore” and “Moreover,” and “Zooming in” is less suitable for a formal report. The final paragraph combines several table observations without a fully systematic comparison of all categories. Use neutral transitions and group the satisfaction figures by high and lower ratings to make the progression more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for describing the visuals, with useful terms such as “percentage distribution,” “maximum user satisfaction,” and “diverse responses.” The writer also varies expressions for reporting figures, rather than relying entirely on “shows.” However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural for an academic summary: “the most number of library users,” “the least ones,” and “not satisfied from availability” do not collocate naturally. “Cursory glance” and “Zooming in” are also conversational or overly figurative in this context, while “questionarre” is misspelled. Aim for precise, conventional chart language and check spelling. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit the accuracy and naturalness of the vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple statements and more developed structures, including “Moreover, helpfulness of staff sits at the 95% of very satisfied users, which is the highest…” The meaning is generally clear, and several sentences are grammatically controlled. Some errors remain in agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “the piechart illustrate's” has incorrect subject–verb agreement and punctuation, while “Full-time postgraduate are 25%” needs a plural noun or a different construction. “Helpfulness of staff sits at the 95%” also has an unnecessary article and an awkward grammatical pattern. The sentence beginning “The only two parameters…” is understandable but could be made more direct. Proofread agreement and article use, and build comparisons with consistent sentence patterns.
