Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify two relevant headline features: full-time undergraduates form the largest user group, while academic staff are the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction ratings. The user-category figures you report are accurate. However, the response stops just as you begin discussing satisfaction, so it does not report the table’s other key comparisons, such as opening hours (65% very satisfied) or the lower ratings for journals and Wi-Fi. The overview is therefore only partly supported, and the task is addressed minimally rather than summarising both visuals. The response is also 46 words below the required minimum. To improve, complete the satisfaction summary with the main highs and lows and include a concise overview of both sets of data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic, sensible sequence: an introduction, an overview, and then details about the user categories. Phrases such as “Overall” and “In terms of user satisfaction” signal the intended movement between points. However, the final paragraph breaks off at “the proportion of library,” leaving the response without a complete discussion or conclusion. As a result, progression is limited and the two visuals are not developed in a balanced way. The overview also repeats the category comparison that is then explained in the next paragraph. Use complete, clearly separated paragraphs for the user categories and satisfaction table, and connect each with accurate transitions so the reader can follow the comparison through to the end.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use several appropriate terms for describing data, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “category,” and “user satisfaction.” These choices show some range beyond basic vocabulary and generally make the intended comparisons understandable. However, spelling errors such as “satisield,” “whle,” “Respondants,” and “similiar” are noticeable, and “the best in terms of user satisfaction” is imprecise for describing the highest rating. “Popular” is also less suitable for a category’s share of library users than “largest” or “accounted for the greatest proportion.” Aim for accurate spelling and more precise chart language, especially when describing satisfaction ratings. The limited amount of completed reporting also restricts the opportunity to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes some useful sentence variety, including a complex comparison with “as compared to” and a sentence beginning “Overall.” Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but grammatical control is uneven. In the opening, the plural subject “The chart and table” requires “demonstrate,” not “demonstrates.” The phrase “the percentage of full-time undergraduate” is also not formed clearly; a plural group or a percentage “for” that group would be more accurate. The final sentence is incomplete, ending after “the proportion of library.” Check subject–verb agreement and noun phrases, and ensure every sentence has a complete main clause. More complete, accurately controlled complex sentences would strengthen the response.
