Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You cover both visuals and report many figures accurately, including the largest user group (44% full-time undergraduates) and the satisfaction results for all five services. However, the overview is limited: you do not clearly summarise the main patterns across the table, such as staff helpfulness receiving the strongest satisfaction and journals receiving the highest dissatisfaction. There is also a factual error: full-time postgraduate users account for 25%, not 16%; 16% refers to part-time postgraduates. The statement that 95% are “satisfied” with staff is imprecise because this figure represents those who are very satisfied. A clearer overview and more accurate selection and description of key comparisons would make the response more complete and developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic, useful structure: an introduction is followed by a paragraph on the chart and one on the table. This helps the reader distinguish the two sets of information, and the figures are generally presented in a sensible order. However, progression within the paragraphs is mostly a list of data rather than a comparison of the main patterns. Linking is limited, with repeated openings such as “About” and “For availability of journals,” and the transition between the chart and table is abrupt. Some punctuation and spacing also make the flow less smooth. Grouping related satisfaction results and using clearer comparisons would create a more coherent account.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “satisfaction,” “availability,” and “reliability,” so the reader can understand the subject and most data. However, the range is limited and some expressions are awkward or imprecise, such as “most highest students that uses library” and “half of it used by distance learning.” Repetition of “satisfied” and “library users” also makes the report less flexible. Choose precise terms for chart categories and satisfaction levels, and use natural collocations when describing proportions. This would improve clarity and control while retaining the appropriate formal style for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response relies mainly on simple sentence patterns, with limited variety in how comparisons and data are expressed. Errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward, although the overall meaning is usually recoverable. For example, “The chart and graph below shows” has subject–verb disagreement, while “The bar graph illustrate” also needs agreement. The phrase “most highest students that uses library are” contains several structural problems, and “About 16 percent of part-time postgraduate use library” lacks appropriate plural and article forms. Review agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, then practise combining figures in accurate comparative sentences.
